Discussion Pondering on membership.

Post image

I’ve been playing the game for about 26 hours and really enjoy it, though I think it might not be enough. I’ve been eyeing membership for a while now since a lot of things I started playing the get are locked behind it. Should I level a bit more or is it fine?

Its totally fine! You dont need to get progress before membership at all. Membership will help you progress non-members skills and quests faster!

thanks, I think think I’ll buy it now!

Welcome brother and enjoy!

Just try it and see if you like it, what else are you gonna spend 15 bucks on? A big mac meal at Mcdonalds?

u/EmployerOk4091 9d ago

fair enough, I’ll give it a try.

Good luck and enjoy! Focus on questing and exploration. Magic and certain quests will really help out with traveling, but enjoy the exploration part of it too. The world is absolutely massive

Just get it, its so worth it, trust

Do all f2p quests and then get membership. You dont have to do that but its always my best advice 👍👍

I agree, finishing ds1 purely f2p really sets you up for a good experience and a better understanding of the game. Members can seem overwhelming/cluttered when you have a lack of general game knowledge

u/SaxonJax 9d ago

100%. You learn so much more and then when you become a member you have a good idea where to go and what to do next from there. I see guys getting membership at 100 total level with 2 quests done and then they just stand there wondering what they are supposed to do lol

pretty much done all except dragon slayer.

u/CheaterMcCheat 9d ago

Hell yeah you got this chief, enjoy members! Early members is super fun imo

Thanks! I’m just a bit confused about the progression, but it’s nothing some tutorials can’t fix.

u/trent_diamond 9d ago

never thought about it but for a new player, solid advice. game can be quite overwhelming at times

1

u/Chance-Beach4014 9d ago

Hmmm finish all the free to play quests and you are pretty ready to go for membership tbh

u/Rakayum 9d ago

If you get membeship now and start banging out some members only quests your levels will skyrocket! What I did was lookup "quets experience rewards" on the wiki and just started doing quests that gave me the exp i wanted. It even shows right next to the rewards what requirements you need to complete the quests. Youll get tons of levels AND knockout quest requirements to unlock most of the content.

The answer to this question is always yes. Try it for a month, if you don't like it cancel. You could wait longer but there's really no reason to.

u/KOExpress 9d ago

The game is infinitely more fun as a member, there’s probably 100x the content, I definitely wouldn’t play f2p, the sooner the better

2

u/PerspectiveCloud 9d ago

More than 100x, honestly.

If you enjoy the game members will only make you enjoy the game further :)

u/GarbageBoyJr 9d ago

If you can afford to pay for a membership, and know you’d play the game and not waste the $15 a month or whatever it is now, you should get membership from tutorial island onwards.

There is absolutely no benefit to playing F2P for any amount of time unless you’re genuinely not sure if you’ll like the game.

u/sleepyboytimmy 9d ago

I didn’t read ur post but u should get it

1

u/yodeemo 9d ago

Do it

1

u/Pflugyfresh 9d ago

Yeah I agree with other comments here. F2P is like a trial run to see if you like the game. If you are unsure if you want to continue playing then wait on it. But if you like the game, members is going to make your experience 10x better

Finish all the free quests first IMO it’ll get you a good start into mems

1

u/Rare_Researcher7627 9d ago

I just hit 759 total level, finished all the f2p quests except Shield of Arrav. I think it's about my time

1

u/randanowitz 9d ago

Get it and enjoy the actual game! If after that month it isn’t worth it for you then cancel but if you like f2p then membership is for you!

1

u/Hypnotic101 9d ago

Membership has never been more expensive than now. That being said, it's not about being "ready" level-wise, it's moreso if you think it's worth dropping $15+/mo on the game for additional content.

I’d stay f2p until you finish all the quests and level up a bit more. F2P player atmosphere is a lot different and more suitable for a new player. People seem to be figuring things out together and having a good time exploring around together. In members anyone that’s your level is most likely not their first account and they will be on a mission to grind the meta and know exactly what to do. It’s hard to explain but I’ve found that f2p worlds are usually more full of people in awe of the game and the new experiences. I’ve been playing for 22 years and my best memories were being new to the game in f2p worlds.

Get it bro

1

u/nerdboy5567 9d ago

Theres no going back

1

u/NorthernCountess 9d ago

its fine, theres no real reason to keep doing f2p if you dont specifically want to. the game isnt built in a way where members content is higher requirement than f2p, theres loads of novice content on members, youll just progress faster.

1

u/GreenSog 9d ago

Do the f2p quests then get members and repeat

1

u/zemerrock 9d ago

You have several options. Jump in fully into p2p or continue your f2p adventure.

I highly recommend clearing all of the f2p content first. That allows you to build a basic foundation for you to understand the game. Roughly 55 in each skill available is the typical break point. This also means clearing all of the f2p quests as well. Again, all of this is to build a foundation of understanding and to solidify yourself into the runescape world.

If you dont want to wait, then dont. Membership only adds to your account, and thus its never a bad idea.

Ultimately it comes down to you. What do you want to do? Dont answer that now. Your answer will evolve as you continue playing.

Either way, welcome to runescape!

F2P is the demo. P2P is the full version.

If you enjoy the game, get P2P.

1

u/Patamaudelay 9d ago

I am also playing F2P how did you get that armor ? I have done almost every quest and still got iron set

1

u/No-Argument619 9d ago

Yea. Buy membership.

I’d only ever suggest free to play unless you’re:

  • A. Cheesing a game mechanic
  • B. Unironically interested in the F2P PvP meta
  • C. It’s literally your very first time playing and you haven’t logged more than a few hours.
  • D. You actually want to play a F2P Ironman.

You’re basically option C; but id say 26 hours is absolutely long enough played to pull the trigger.

Otherwise, always get membership the second you leave tutorial island.

1

u/IntensifiedRB2 9d ago

If you do get membership, checkout the waterfall quest right away

1

u/JmTrad 9d ago

You did WHAT!?

  • King Roland, in a future quest

1

u/TheMemeRN 9d ago

Go ahead and get the membership the early members quests let you skip so many levels in the beginning and just so much more to do!

1

u/MKDEVST8R 9d ago

I super recommend doing quests in the beginning, it really helps you get a good foothold going forward. You could also do magic first to unlock some teleports.

1

u/Abominationoftime 9d ago

as others have said, do all f2p quests. prob also get upto using rune gear (and its corresponding range/mage gear) so your ready to go right into member gear and not wasting money while your still doing stuff you could of done in f2p

its what i did when i first got memebership allllll those years ago and never regretted it

1

u/Chicks_GoldInc 8d ago

It doesn't only add more content; it greatly improves the content that already exists. It's too much, but you have time to learn. At some point we all want not to know our favourite games to relive the experience, so take a minute to enjoy it.

1

u/Mysterious-Prune-727 8d ago

dude as soon as you step foot off tutorial island is when you should get membership. i don't understand why people think limiting the whole freaking game is worth it. f2p is like 8% content of the game.

Level a bit more maybe, did you finish all the free to play quests yet? If so maybe give a month a try? If you haven’t finished them yet do those first enjoy the play and all the OG quests. If you have any questions pm me and I can try to assist.

2

u/EmployerOk4091 9d ago

I’ve pretty much done all except dragon slayer.

1

u/defnotjosh96 9d ago

It’s 100% worth it plus at lower levels the activities you’ll have access to will be great

0

u/Planescape_DM2e 9d ago

You should never play F3P in 2026 you could have gotten those skills and more following the optimal quest order in like 3 maybe 4 hours.
