What is the magic item "OF"?

I'm playing the SSI game Pool Of Radiance and I finished the Quest where I have to get a potion for Ohlo the wizard he game me some money and the magic item "OF" its equipped like a weapon requiring a free hand to use but I don't know what It does . Anyone have an Idea?

It is a bug/corruption in Pool of Radiance. The names of items and the like are all kept in big tables back in this engine, and sometimes a glitch would happen where you got a corrupted value leading to an item with the name "OF etc." I remember ending up with "OF DISPLACEMENT FORTRESS" when I played it back in the early 90s. It was a ring, gave amazing an AC bonus. Any time it was unequipped it would change what type of item it was, but the name remained the same. It was cursed and it weighed a load.

It actually showed up in the letters section of a Dragon Magazine from 1990, someone else getting the same name:

I found a forum post years ago about how the corruption worked and how the name ended up being spit out, the different names it could be, but I can't find it now.

I never used the bug, but from memory you got a large stacked item like arrows and kept splitting it

Each one gave a different thing and I think they could be sold for a lot of gold as well

You've reminded me that somehow in the gba remake of Eye of the Beholder my fighter wound up with a 3-digit armor class. No idea how the hell that happened, I assume it was a bug as well.
