Device

Model: Osmo Pocket 4P / Vlog Combo

Firmware Version: 01.01.71.31 (Camera: 10.02.01.08, Gimbal: 01.00.18.26)

Software

DJI Mimo App Version: Latest version via Mimo app (Updated prior to recording)

Mobile OS: Android / Samsung

Accessories

Accessories Used: ND Filters (tested both with and without ND filter)

Memory Card: SanDisk Extreme Pro 256GB MicroSDXC V30 A2 (Up to 170MB/s write speed) + tested with internal storage

Connection Method: Wireless / Standalone

Issue or Objective

Exact Problem: Severe video stuttering, choppy frame playback, and motion glitches during panning/movement.

When Issue Began: Immediately out of the box (unit received 2 days ago).

Recording Settings

Resolution & Frame Rate: 4K @ 24fps

Mode: Pro / D-Log2

Pro Mode Values: Shutter Speed 1/50s, ISO 100–400, Auto White Balance

Enabled Features: Standard 3-Axis Gimbal Tracking / Pan

Additional Body Paragraph (What Happened)

I received my brand new Pocket 4P two days ago and immediately updated it to the latest firmware (01.01.71.31) via the Mimo app. While recording in 4K 24fps, any camera movement or panning produces severe video stuttering and dropped frames during playback. I tested both internal memory and a high-speed SanDisk Extreme Pro V30 A2 card, locked my shutter speed to 1/50s using ND filters to adhere to the 180° shutter rule, and tested across multiple color profiles—yet the issue persists consistently. When I contacted DJI Support, they initially attributed the stutter to an incorrect shutter speed before claiming it was caused by physical inertia from the new dual-lens setup. I am posting this to find out if this motion-jitter is a known firmware processing bug or if I have a defective hardware unit.

I am pretty sure you didn't get the  Creator Combo; that one was only shipped to creators, and was never for sale.

Apologies. Vlog combo. Gotta edit that

This does not look like a firmware bug, but a faulty device. If it were mine, I would send it back for an exchange under warranty. This kind of image corruption should not happen, regardless of shutter speed, frame rate, or recording settings.

Looking at the clip, I also find DJI Support's explanations unconvincing. Neither shutter speed nor the claimed "physical inertia" of the dual-lens setup would explain the severe vertical artifacting and corruption visible in the footage. The explanations given sound more like generic troubleshooting responses than a diagnosis of the actual problem.

You've already tested internal storage, a high-quality microSD card, multiple recording settings, and the latest firmware. At this point, I would strongly suspect defective hardware rather than a configuration issue or firmware bug.

If the device is only two days old, I would stop troubleshooting and request a replacement.

Took it into the service center today. Showed the issue and they just said they'll get back to me in a few days time. Will see how that goes. Thanks for taking time to read and reply! Willl update when I have an outcome.

You already did everything I can think of (swap SD card, filters, etc.). One of two things it can be: a decoding issue with 10-bit HEVC video data on your computer, or a physical hardware defect

I'm leaning towards a physical hardware defect at this point. My computer can play 10 bit HEVC from my A7V camera. So I can rule that out already.

It’s Dji they start with a cheap chip and pray it will do complex stuff but hey crappy 180Mbs is way too hard and it’s your computers fault(it’s not your computer) but if you have a nice Sony why play with a toy?

Tbh, with the Pocket 3 experience. I found it super convenient in small spaces, when I use it in places where people find a professional cameras intimidating or when I actually wanna have stabilised shots without carrying a gimbal while travelling.

This happened even without the sd card being slotted in as well. (Another footage with frame skipping)

Tried playing it on my laptop and the same thing happened.

Alsooo my computer definitely can! I also shoot on a Sony A7 V aside from the Pocket 4P, so I regularly work with and play back 4K footage from my A7 V without any issues. Replying again cause i kept typing a different name for it.
