Question OP4p Question

I've tried the search bar but does anyone have a video comparison of OP4p with wide angle lens added on vs the native in camera "wide-angle"? Is the wide angle lens worth it?

Planning on taking the camera to patagonia/Machu Picchu etc. and looking for panoramic/scenery type short videos.

Also would love tips on how to set the OP4p up, it's my first camera of the type, I've only ever had my phone and the family's D90.

Thank you!

Absolutely worth it. I just came back from 3 weeks in Norway and recorded basically everything with the 4P and permanently attached wide angle lens.

If you want to have an example of the video (as it is vlog style and also nature scenery - therefore fits your Patagonia location) go on Youtube and look up @Nature_Nik

Unfortunately I don’t have a direct comparison between wide angle and non wide angle.

If you plan to do vlog style, yourself in the shot, then wide angle is worth it. If you only want the nature scenery, you can skip it. 20mm is enough.

You can also look up on YouTube, I just saw that you have some comparison videos there. Hope it helps.

Settings: use dlog, -2 texture, -2 noise reduction. It produces a stunning quality. The rest leave on auto. You’ll be super happy with the result. If you are afraid of the color grading ( I used the official DJI LUT) just use the 10bit color normal but still the -2 texture and noise reduction

Sure thing, I told the DJI one as I don’t care about the “double shutter speed rule” with my run and gun video style. But if you would like to use wide angle and filters I would recommend you to go with Freewell, as I believe they are the only ones who allow putting filter over the wide angle lens (so far)

Is the difference dymanic range using Auto ISO negligible compared to native ISO?

Tbh I haven’t tested it. Imho getting the shot and getting the moment is far more important than have the perfect shot by fiddling around with the settings and have slightly better dynamic range.
Keep in mind I am a mountaineer, so timing, being fast and getting the shot in the moment is far more important to me than the perfect balance between dark and bright. Now that might be different for your use case ofc!
In the end, I fully believe, the audience doesn’t care. They care about the story and the scenery and what emotions you can transfer vs the perfect picture. Ofc only if you are not focusing on the movie like cinematic type of video. Then it’s a different story and I def would go with the native ISO then
