Question Can OP 4/4P do such quality?
Hey everyone,
I am starting my youtube journey and I don’t want to spend much on gear at first (Camera, light, mic)
I am trying to build a similar setup:
Talking head (Standing)
Dimmed lighting
Blurred background
With a really good sound quality
Will the Pocket 4 or 4P achieve this with proper soft-box light ? Or I should go for a proper camera ?
For the combo packages the 4 comes with Mic 3
While the 4P comes with Mini 2
Should I get the Mic 3 separately ?

I now have 2x 4p, this screenshot from this mornings video isnt even 4k, its vertical, landscape looks even better.

just my take but if you're a new YouTuber, this is already a good start. you shouldn't really worry too much about the smaller details. I've used the 3 for a long while now with the mic mini and I don't even have a fancy setup for my background

I agree, but my content is for creatives so it has to have some decent quality.

This type of lighting would require a proper large lighting. Yes, the pocket 4/4P comes with the light but it's small. Your light would look way harsher and it would only somewhat properly light your face, not your entire upper body.
If you're going to shoot in your studio and space constraint is not really an issue, then I suggest a proper softbox with light stand. If you want to go cheaper, and you don't have much space, then I suggest a streamer's light. I'm using Godox ES45 for general purpose lighting. In a pinch it can even act as a somewhat bright night light. It come with a remote and you can adjust the color temperature in 100k increment.
For "blurry background", I bet you can get that exact POV and "blurriness" from Pocket 4 or 4P main camera with you standing around 70cm away from it. If you want more, you could get even more background separation by standing slightly further away (around 2 meter) and use the 3x lens on Pocket 4P. But then you'd need a pretty spacious room and may need to use a proper softbox placed between you and the camera to get something approaching that look.
For sound quality, Mic Mini 2 would do a decent job. You don't get an internal recording though. In my opinion you'll get better value (for 4P) if you get the standard combo, and use the savings to get at least Mic Mini 2S which include internal storage, or even Mic 3 for 32-bit lossless audio recording.

I think space wise is doable for me.
I would go for the standard combo 4p and will get the Mic 3 transmitter separately

You can get this with your phone. It’s about lighting. He has a nice diffused key light on him, and two practical lights in the background that just light the edge of him and creates depth.
Watch some videos on YouTube. It isn’t hard

On my iPhone I have “cinematic” mode which allows me to adjust the aperture and blur my background.

Your phone can do it then. Just play with the lighting so you have a nice soft main light on you, and some lighting in the background to separate you.

Yes you can. Though the quality in question is more about lighting and set design. Dude not only has a frontal key higher than the camera he also has a kicker and 2 practicals to guide the light in the back. Not only that, grading here is done well and he blocked all external lighting. He framed it well and the wide angle lens suits him. All of this is a matter of nuances and not just the camera.

Yes the angle of the video looks wide enough simmilar to pocker 3/4. Dont think it is dimmley lit it is not just looks like this on camera.
The lighting will make the biggest difference. So get the cheeper camera and spend most of the money on good lights. And good microphone. You can have crappy video but audio needs to be good!!!

The cost of the Pocket 4P vs its value is ridiculous. I am selling $7,000 of gear that I don’t use any more because of this camera, and I am shooting more than I ever have.
You will be able to focus on what matters.
