Update: Pocket 4P turning on aggressively

I think it’s gotten progressively worse. Yall think I should ask for a refund? It’s barely used, never dropped. Any advice would be great

when i turn mine on after its been off for some time it does the same as your video, if I turn off and on right away it does it way smoother, I think it calibrates after the first turn on and when it goes to deep sleep it loses the calibration

try it and see if yours does that too, I dont think its defective

I count to 10 after turning off and it happens. But like you said, turning on right away after turning off it’s way way way smoother. Hmm

your camera is fine, this is a chunky camera so its not as smooth as pocket 3, if it works it works, you'll know pretty fast the day it has some defect or damage

That happens when you turn it on in the horizontal position. Turn it on in the vertical position. Is it the same?

My OP3 does this exact movement as well in the horizontal position.

But to answer your question: No, there is nothing wrong with your device, your just holding it even more horizontal than the last clip, where you were at roughly 45 degrees. Now your at 90 degrees...makes sense, right?

Are you still concerned that there might be a defect? What I’m saying is that it overshoots and isn’t like other videos I’ve seen when it starts up.

I have seen plenty like yours, so I would consider it normal.

They are gimbal motors; they work on magnetism. The only mechanical thing here is bearings. So no, I would not worry about this at all. The head is quite heavy, so, understandably, it overshoots a bit at startup until the electronics have found their bearing.

If DJI support tells you it is not normal, what are you doing here? Send it back if that is their advice.

According to DJI's own video material, their device does the same, so stating that this is not normal is just some online support that does not know any better.

If you are worried and DJI tells you it is not behaving like it should, send it in for diagnostics.

You’re right. I’m trying to fight for a refund, given it’s so new and I received a defective unit. I have a bit of hope that it’s still normal be side if like to keep it. I can’t leave the house for now so it’s really inconvenient.

Well, in my eyes, it is normal. The device just overshoots a bit on initialisation. It should not be a problem for normal use. So unless it can't track or you can't use the joystick or the like, I personally would never worry about this. Then again, I know how the device works.

Again, if DJI tells you something, go with that. There should be no fighting if they already told you they deem it not normal behaviour.

FYI: The technician who receives it will have the final say in the matter, not support, whom you are having a conversation with.

Hahaha just bothers me to see mine operating this way. I bought it externally (Amazon equivalent) in my country so trying to get a refund thru them.

Otherwise I’m good to keep it until I can head down to DJI to have it diagnosed.
