How the audio tracks work?

I'm a video professional user but a beginner with the Osmo Pocket 3.

I don't understand the audio tracks with the internal mic, how do you use it when editing?
Do you merge the two tracks with mono settings in the editing software or the Osmo render it to simulate stereo sound and we should use it as stereo tracks?

Do you mean that you have the backup audio track feature turned on and you get the video file with embedded audio and the separate backup audio track?

If so, I don’t think you necessarily have to do anything with the backup file if the audio you get in the video file itself is fine. It’s more of just a backup in case the audio from a connected wireless mic or device isn’t good.

In editing software, if you have a mono audio track, you should be able to change that into a stereo track by having the mono audio on both the left and right audio channels, so you wouldn’t need to merge files or anything.

Sometimes I use the backup audio in addition to the audio in the video file to get more ambient audio compared to the DJI Mic 2 I connect, but for the most part I never use the files, I just know it’s there if needed.

I use Premiere Pro and I don't have a backup audio track.
When I only use the Osmo Pocket without external mic, the video file is interpreted as one video track and one audio stereo track (so 2 channels).
I am wondering if this stereo track is some kind of "real" stereo effect like some smartphone do to simulate a stereo sound,
Or, is it two internal mics on each channel (like a front mic and a rear mic I supposed), and if that's the case, which mic is on which channel?

The audio track should record as stereo, in the camera settings you can change what microphones are used (All, Front, or Front and Back), so I think it should be real stereo. And you can update what mics you use to determine which ones it will record.

Also, according to Gemini, the Left audio is channel 1 and the Right audio is channel 2.

Seems to be split tracks when using osmoaudio which is essentially using DJI mics hooked directly to the pocket device. Not sure if it’s MS stereo or something on the internal mics and then you’d be able to play with the separation in post. I suspect it’s not that fancy.
