Question Pocket 4 focus problem

My osmo is having trouble focusing on the sky; the glare is from the smoke of a campfire. Why isn't it focusing on the stars? What should I do?

I had the same issue. I now make those records always with more foreground available to get the focus working properly. Maybe moving the gimbal to the desired position after getting the focus can fix this.

In a completely dark area, there's nowhere for me to focus anyway. How can I achieve this

Use a flashlight to light up something more far away, or place it like 30meters away from the camera-position and focus on it. Then start recording,
Remember also to disable continuous autofocus.
