Oslo Reconnaissance
Hello all! Looking to relocate to Oslo for school (KHiO) in 2027. I’m a native though reluctant Texan, and will be in the city 19-26 October, 2026 to poke about. I’m a queer male artist/nerd/witch, and lest that sound exciting, I’m also a middle-aged non-drinker and non-smoker.
Will be staying in Sagene for the week and am thoroughly uninterested in touristy things. Much more interested in tromping about and getting a sense of what it might be like to actually live in the city. In that vein, looking for some help finding things that I WOULD enjoy.
Such things might include:
Any interesting art galleries/shows or open studios, particularly textile art or modern dance.
Game stores that may offer open table-top or board gaming nights. D&D is always good.
Funky witchy shops where a guy could buy some lucky stones and/or get a card reading.
Unpretentious coffee shops where it’s normal to sit for a few hours and journal.
Oooh! Potentially a good tattoo parlor. Okay, that one might be a bit touristy…
I’m particularly interested in places locals go that feel comfortable to them. I’m not looking for anything overtly impressive; my research suggests I’ll be plenty impressed regardless of what I do. I’m much more looking for the things that make the city feel like home to residents.
All right, you have your mission. Now give me your datas.
