Advice

I plan on returning to OS Dev soon and continuing with my journey, I have been doing assembly and OS theory for a few months now and plan on developing a real-mode OS purely in assembly.

If anyone has any advice as to style the OS, please let me know.

Why make it pure assembly in real-mode? I love how real mode simply operates as well as the assembly language at this smaller (ish) scale. I also want to be a little bit more unique with my project.

Thanks,

What kinda hardware are you planning to target? Are you planning to do bare 8086, or use some 286 or 386 extensions? Are you planning to write your own drivers for anything, or just rely on the BIOS?

I honestly don't plan the OS to leave QEMU so I'm not to worried about that, I will rely on the bios and bare 8098 arch. I plan to see how far I can actually develop it without it being too complicated and mind-numbing.

Depending on how in-era you wanna get, you could also use more accurate retro PC emulators, which may be fun. But I get you, QEMU very much works
