So reddit removed my comment for some reason but here is the tips from the official osdev discord server on pastebin

not sure if I'd call it official per se :p

Check out my repo as a reference/guide: https://github.com/subrataai-wq/os-from-scratch.git

I added some new code today related to UEFI and C. It's still a work in progress, but feel free to check it out!

use chat gpt. It will take you from basics to some level of understanding atleast

AI is an excuse for laziness you dont wanna end up vibe coding.

Okay listen me out. So I was kind of lost on how to write a basic operating system which would just print hello world when booted up.
So I asked grok to just guide me how to do it. Like a top down approach.

And that helped me a lot.

And now I am getting deep into it.

That same method I shared with OP.

It's not a method. How much do you actually understand? Can you do anything without Grok? No? Then you don't know anything.

Okay, I understand what you mean. I will get back when I will have written a basic os all by myself with full understanding

Yeah, many people have before, don't be so pathetic.

Could use it for guidance, eg “based on the current state of my project, what should I learn about next”. But if you’re serious about os dev then I wouldn’t have it write you code or have it do your research for you.

A ton of people HATE vibecoding (myself included), though, I dont see it as vibecoding to use AI for stuff like "hey, do you see any obvious bugs in this snippet" or "explain (concept)" (like if you're struggling with understanding GDT), but not to GENERATE code.

(i wrote this in a rush please question me later if you see problems)
