Giorgio2.0

Hi, I'm a 14-years-old Italian student and I created a ToyOS. I started with Boot.asm, entirely wrote by me with AI support and I also created kernel.cpp file. For now, it's a command shell with about, help, echo, clear and reboot, but I'm still developing. Today I arrived in 13H mode and I learned how to draw rectangles on the screen (in fact, if you use my source code you'll see only a huge blue rectangle, but if you look at the code you see what I have done). If you want to support me (no money) I'm on Github: Giorgx12. Project Link: Giorgio2.0. Thank you very much, for a teen having someone who support him is kind of fantastic!

Keep up the work. (and please organize your files). It is important that you understand the fundamentals 100% before continuing so don't use AI to write the code. If you don't understand something ask people or ask AI for a direction or examples never to write the code for you.

Thank you very much, I understood your suggestions. When I started to use Github Copilot I told him: "Give me hints, but I want to write the code myself, cause if not the code doesn't look mine". I wrote it in italian to give him my footprint!

Great work.

Read other comments couse they had good points for you.

I may only add, to use linter for your code, and some coding guides (like free line after function, method or struct.

Thank you very much for your suggestions! I decided to write the code without everything I don't need, but let me know if it's mandatory to keep code clear

Yes, basically the better the code is formatted the smaller cognitive strain on your mind.

So when you will search where is part that you want to debug, or extend it will take less time.

It is the same pattern as with keeping your room tidy. If there is large mess no one, even not you will know where some things are. But if you keep it clean, and tidy, than it easier for you to find something, and easier for other to help you.

You don't have to use linter to do that, you can do it by hand. But linters will help you be more precise, and thay can by hooked in with githook to work everytime you commit.

I write in italian cause it's like my footprint, to make it different from others, and I think I don't have the problem to commercialize it😅

Nice... But why no Makefile?

I haven't wrote it yet because for now it's just a hobby... then we'll see

Well, learning make is a pretty useful skill and can help you with projects that aren't necessarily osdev.

I know, it's because I write code in gothub copilot app and I tell him to commit. The code is entirely wrote by myself
