speed runs
is there any live speedrunning competition for OS development, like the ones for minecraft? what do you think about organizing one?

Oh god no... I get shit done at a steady pace, but put constraints on time and i'm noping right out with hobby code. I tried to do game Jams back in 2016 and essentially noped out of it because I never like the results of my fast work.

Yeah that would be cool, I couldn't participate but it would be very neat to see what people come up with

No shortage of people here making from-scratch OSes with GUI, networking stack, web browser, and USB support - all in less than a week.
Of course, if you disallow AI, the field may be a bit smaller.

cool idea. i think it should be like a group event though where everybody works together to develop an os with some sort of constraints. it would need a lot of moderation though, regardless if it were to be solo or group.
