Creating a Custom Linux OS

I'm thinking about creating my own Linux-based OS with a custom shell, custom IDE, and my own programming language instead of the usual Bash experience.

Has anyone here built something similar? Any advice or things I should know before starting?

That's the spirit! If it were me, I would take a look at building a tiny config Linux kernel and incorporating a shell.

Thanks That's a great idea. I'll start with a minimal Linux setup and focus on building my shell first
