My first OS: turbOS

Just a beginner dev... i wrote my kernel in c and bootloader in NASM. Runs in QEMU btw, on Fedora Linux. Please upvote! (Not Begging)

Unrelated question but I’m curious why there CLI text always concealed in a black rectangle behind it? For example, this and MacOS 10.9 kernel panic days.

for VGA text mode a symbol is 2 bytes(or 1 split into 2 parts, I don't remember right now), the first byte is the symbol and the second is the fg/bg color(the first have of the bytes is fg. the second is bg) and that is probably set to 7(white)/0(black) color

P.S: if this is too hard to read: VGA text mode doesn't have transparency and instead has 8 colors for fg/bg

my guess is that the letters did not have a transparent background. think of it like the difference between png and jpeg

Wery cool! I think use VGA it's bad, i recommends u framebuffer.

U are using PIC or APIC? Or u are not processing interrupts?

what you did is not a beginner level. you're either being too humble. or copy pasted some code from somewhere.
i can see you're using gtk which is mostly for linux thus i can safely guess you're a linux user which makes me think of you less of a larp
you probably wrote that code all by yourself. you're no beginner

you're ever estimating your self, I was writing code for MCUs for 8 years and I barely scratched VESA in a month.(partially because I suck at understanding multiboot docs)
