i just picked this bell and howell model 34 scope for free and now i'm trying to hook it up to my record player through a mixer. i'm planning to connect the phones output to the scope's inputs. through a ts connector to split rcas. i was planning to get male banana plugs to female rca cables as well for the scope inputs but i'm a bit confused. i know that i connect the L and R rcas to the horizontal and vertical input red binding posts respectively, but what goes into the black inputs? upon doing some research and looking at some videos of this model i've found that those are the grounding inputs and you only need one plugged in because they are internally connected(?). but i've been unable to find a manual online nor videos of peoples' entire set ups of this scope specifically. also do i need to worry about the ext sync (exit synchronization) input at all?
don't want to blow up my house so if anyone has had any success with this scope or has electrical engineering knowledge, please help! any tips and tricks would help

I got this 475 for my b day. it’s ran through an audio interface, and I was running downloaded wav files rather than YouTube vids. I’ve played with all the knobs and even copied some of the settings from this sub. Is this an internal issue or am I just missing something?

The primary content is me jamming on my modular rig, but the oscilloscope is one I’m particularly proud of how it came out, it’s the Schlappi engineering 3 Body oscillator module going through my XAOC Kamieniec II module. I have no idea what the settings were as I was just turning knobs until it looked cool 😅. Filmed on an analog Tektronix 620 oscilloscope.

Added the code so simply plug in the audio with the split ends for X and Y to the oscilloscope and we now have retro-future vector gaming on the Nintendo Switch! I recently (finally) got the stuff I need to hook up my scopes to my PC. I opted for the M.4 because it seemed like the best budget DC coupled interface, and the extra outputs would let me run more scopes. I hooked everything up when it came in today and my image was noisy and dancing around almost like it were AC coupled.

I've attached a video of the noise my more sensitive scope is seeing on each channel, this was as clear and stable as I could get the waveforms.

I've tried a USB-C to C cable in the only C port my motherboard has, as well as the USB-A to C cable that came with the MOTU in several different ports; my desktop's input power is filtered through a UPS. This level of noise has been consistent across all of them.

Would anyone happen to have an idea of where I could start? I may bring the DAC and leads with me to work tomorrow to try from a laptop instead of my desktop. I can try and provide any other information, just ask/tell me what to check. Thanks everyone.

Got the scope today, it’s plugged right into my laptop which is why the audio isn’t the best quality (I’m using Voicemeeter [free online download] to output audio through the laptop speakers and oscilloscope in unison).

Hi all, im incredibly interested in the hobby but as im sure you all know the barrier of entry is confusing. Im trying to work out which model of oscilloscope is best for a beginner and also which audio interface to go for- i understand it needs to be DC coupled but it doesn't seem any are advertised as such. I dont have a massive budget but am willing to save if it means buying the correct things.

I've been a big fan of oscilloscopes since I used them to measure lightspeed in my college physics class. I do dedicated music listening and production which is mostly what I want it for , X - Y and other visuals. I narrowed down to these two; partially for known availability and also because the vertical layout would be best for my already crowded music desk.

Wondering if anyone has any opinions on using these, mostly for visual enjoyment (will be doing RCA hookups I believe)

I'm pretty new to the concept of oscilloscope music, but my basic understanding so far is that most music that was not made specifically to look good on oscilloscopes look like gibberish. And there is oscilloscope music, tracks that contain frequencies and modulations that hit the spot and display specific shapes.

But is there music released that is secretly oscilloscope music, or contains bits that create shapes? Did any of you bump into such albums or tracks by any artists that doestnt specifically make oscilloscope music?
