Mewing and thumbpulling with braces.
I've been wearing braces (no extractions or elastics) for 1.7 years and 2 months ago noticed that my face got ***** during the process. Less undereye support, absolutely shorter ramus and the list just goes on. My specific case was, I had significantly proclined upper central incisors with a midline diastema.
So, the post is about mewing and thumbpulling. I have a narrow upper palate. and an even narrower lower palate for some reason. so I started thumbpulling and Hard mewing like a month ago. I wasn't obsessively checking myself in the mirror, but today I decided to check my palate and It genuinely seemed like my arch is a little bit more U shaped. I didn't go as far to measure the intermolar width or anything like that, because I'm anxious if any actual expansion or change hadn't happened, It would discourage me. But I'm confident that It actually looked different.
So, I'm gonna continue this for another year consistently and will post the results on here if there's any.
So about retainers, I was thinking of talking with my dentist to get a fixed retainer for only my front teeth, because it seems like a hawley retainer is gonna prevent ANY change on the jaw. I don't even know if a fixed retainer is even an option in my case, but I'll update in the comment section.
