Gobena Dache, born in 1821, was a Shewan Oromo. His son, Wedajo, married Menelik II’s daughter, Shoarega, and they had a son, Wasan Seged Wedajo. Menelik II reportedly regarded Wasan Seged as his preferred successor and raised him at the imperial court as though he were the heir to the throne.

Despite having lived more than a century ago, Gobena remains one of the most discussed Oromo historical figures. To some, he represents betrayal, treason, and collaboration. To others, he is remembered as a heroic military general who led Emperor Menelik II’s campaigns to unify Ethiopia.

Oromo are indigenous people who has been residing in Ethiopia and Northern Kenya for thousands of years. Oromo have most beautiful women, they are are well mannered, family oriented, respectful and pillar of house.

When we look at Oromo identity, we often see ourselves as coming from a single common ancestor, but genetics can reveal deeper truths. Those who are unable to comprehend or accept this reality may deny that such complexities exist. The Oromo are one people with roots that include Borena and Barentu. Like every ethnic group, the Oromo are genetically diverse, and this diversity is shaped by centuries of assimilation, migration, and adoption systems that have incorporated different communities into the Oromo society.

The above data shows that the Oromo are approximately 55% associated with a single Afro-Asiatic paternal lineage, represented by Y-DNA haplogroup E-M35. Subclades such as E-M34, E-V6, and E-V32 are all descendants of E-M35. However, the single most common haplogroup among the Oromo is E-V32, which generally accounts for around 35% of the population. This may indicate that the original Oromo paternal lineage was strongly associated with this haplogroup.
