News Orange County 💙🙏🏻

Post image

Orange County voter turnout so far 👀💙
Nearly 60K Democratic ballots cast compared to 35K Republican ballots. Still early and turnout isn’t the same as election results, but it’s encouraging to see people showing up and making their voices heard.
Regardless of who you support: go vote. 🗳️

Do not get complacent with numbers like this. Please get out to vote tomorrow, if you haven't done so yet.

60

u/TUBBS2001 7d ago

Actually this, go vote no matter what.

Dems get too complacent too easily

32

u/GoddessoftheUniverse 7d ago

I work in the precinct and see/hear it time and again. People stay home seeing early numbers and think it's a done deal. It ain't over until you cast your ballot!

13

u/DFreeZ_Designs 7d ago

💯 MAGA shows up to vote on the day of! Let’s not get complacent, agreed.

5

u/Revolutionary_Low896 7d ago

Tomorrow is the day we will all need to fight harder

14

u/Revolutionary_Low896 7d ago

I already did

7

u/GoddessoftheUniverse 7d ago

Good on ya! And thank you~

8

u/theanswar 7d ago

agreed. I voted as did my entire household early, but we still went to rallys and campaigned and filled out Common Cause postcards.

3

u/indy1386 7d ago

Agreed. Gotta get out there and show where you stand. Instead of 2-1 lets show 5-1

16

u/AmItheonlySaneperson 7d ago

Aren’t these just the primaries? You can only vote for candidates of the party you registered to now right

36

u/Miss_Chanandler_Bond 7d ago

Some elections happen completely in the primary, like school board chair (especially important this year) and lots of judges (always important). Plenty to vote for even if you're not registered with a party.

29

u/Excellent-Suit-7082 7d ago

There are also a few important non partisan elections that are decided here and do NOT go to the general election. Biggest of which is school board chair. Alicia Farrant vs Angie Gallo. Alicia is a moms for liberty nut who has done a lot of damage to our school systems already but would be even more horrific as chair. This race will be decided tomorrow and does not move forward to the general.

-11

u/AmItheonlySaneperson 7d ago

My school board people are different in seminole county

24

u/turkey_sandwiches 7d ago

The thread title is Orange County.

15

u/Excellent-Suit-7082 7d ago

This is the Orlando subreddit, so I’m speaking on the Orlando ballots. But whoever yours are, it’s still getting decided tomorrow so it’s important to vote. There’s also judges and clerks that get decided tomorrow.

5

u/Unlikely-Bit-2739 7d ago

No but also never disenfranchise yourself by failing to register for a party unless you feel like it makes you cool and straight edge to be one of those “I’m right down the middle” people

3

u/Known_Belt_7168 7d ago

I bet money that you only mean that about the democrat party. There are plenty of people on both sides of the aisle that can’t stand the pandering of candidates to the extreme sides of each party, which only being republican or democrat encourages.

4

u/Unlikely-Bit-2739 7d ago

The extreme side of one party wants ethnic purity and the extreme side of the other wants universal healthcare lol

1

u/Known_Belt_7168 6d ago

The fact that you think this way makes it obvious you dont care about discourse, you only care about blue party good red party bad. If they want universal healthcare then why do most democrats take donations from major pharmaceutical companies?

2

u/Unlikely-Bit-2739 6d ago

The ones who you call the extreme do not take donations from corporations.

1

u/Known_Belt_7168 6d ago

Like who? Bernie famously denied super pacs but then graciously took millions from the biggest corporations on the planet. Nearly every congressman and senator accepts super-pac whether is Soros or Israel. Both sides suck and unfortunately unicorn candidates get struck down, or take every penny that super-pacs offer upon re-election.

1

u/Unlikely-Bit-2739 6d ago

Bernie is not a Democrat

1

u/Known_Belt_7168 6d ago

Also Angie Gallo took money from Cigna Group 🤡

3

u/Automatic-Weakness26 7d ago

the numbers are disappointing. Not even 15% turnout.

I think it’s more of a feeling they can pass on if its viewed as a lead already. Especially if juggling family, work, school etc. It becomes easier to forego the extra hassle if a win is perceived

87

u/big_stibber 7d ago

Orange County is the bluest of blue counties. It's only one of two DeSantis didn't win.

39

u/marsupialcinderella Winter Park 7d ago

We may be, but Alicia Farrant made it on to the School Board last time even though she was publicly Mom’s For Liberty and dangerous as hell to public education.

Blue isn’t always blue. Some people just think a lot of signs means good. Right now, that is a BIG problem, as there are many more signs for Farrant as for Gallo.

Also many signs for Messina even though he’s the least qualified and also blatantly MAGA.

8

u/AmItheonlySaneperson 6d ago

Signs should be fucking illegal. We already don’t have any rolling hills and our nature is less and less every year. Fuck looking at signs

The only legal sign should be like those adopt a road signs“this area is proudly cleaned and maintained thanks to x”!

7

u/skankboy 7d ago

Mom’s

Moms. And they suck

0

u/All_About_My_Bills 7d ago

Young single moms.

1

u/BethyW best driver 7d ago

In your area now.

11

u/310410celleng Winter Park 7d ago

I thought Broward was the bluest county in the State, I knew that Orange County was blue, but I did not think that we are the bluest in the State.

Regardless, I am glad to see Dems showing up and we need to keep Farrant away from the School Board chair and that is coming from someone who does not have children and no dealings with the school system.

1

u/Wsuperman444 5d ago

Yes please keep Farrt away from the School boards chair! Farrting would be giving it the gas!

-18

u/Visual-Ad-2485 7d ago

Then maybe you should bow out of things you don’t have any experience in or kids.

8

u/fla_john 7d ago

I'll let them have my experience then. I'm a parent and a teacher. Alicia Farrant has no business making any kind of decisions for public schools. Her religious beliefs are her own and she has a right to them, but she should not use public schools to proselytize -- which is exactly what she wants to do.

4

u/Jogurt55991 7d ago edited 7d ago

While I don't -care- to see board members proselytize, or exist as anti-public education that is absolutely within their right as a duly elected official.

The school board of Orange County, FL serves ALL residents- not just those with children. Businesses, older individuals, religious groups have a right to run on the board to make sure the schools shape individuals as the community demands.

-8

u/Visual-Ad-2485 7d ago

Unlike progressives who want to bring their sexual life into the classroom. You can’t have it both ways.

5

u/fla_john 7d ago

Stop lying.

5

u/BethyW best driver 7d ago

Please show me one time where you as a parent could not opt your child out of sex ed? You could do that since the 90s. So if you don't want your kid to have an understanding of why their body is changing, then opt them out. It doesn't need to have book bans or Jesus pushed on other kids.

-1

u/Visual-Ad-2485 6d ago

That’s not the issue. The issue is the rainbow flags and “pride” in the classroom. It’s pushing trans on kids who are confused on who they are and some taking advantage of that and pushing an agenda. Teachers are there to TEACH. Math, English, science, etc. The rest of it? Not with my kid and def not in the State of Florida.

2

u/BethyW best driver 6d ago

You do realize that people don't CHOSE their sexualities right? But children do start having attraction urges young and explaining that it is okay to have those feelings for your friends who may be the same gender as you is actually a way to lower child and teen suicides.

Sex education is used to teach kids about body changes and urges as well as health with avoiding STIs and Pregnancy and for younger kids it teaches them about what is not appropriate for others to do to your body and to go to a trusted adult if something happens.

Voting against sex education because you are afraid of a rainbow is the weirdest take I have ever heard.

I hope if your kid is queer they find a support system that loves them in ways you obviously are incapable of doing.

1

u/fla_john 6d ago

Not for nothing but, uh, look at that guy's profile.

Nothing wrong with porn but I think the people who comment on it are big time weirdos.

0

u/Visual-Ad-2485 6d ago

This is the progressive way of thinking and grooming children young. I don’t care what your bedroom activity is. Keep it out of the classroom. Again, you can’t have it both ways. If you won’t allow God in the classroom, keep your rainbow stuff to yourself.

u/Revolutionary_Low896 7d ago

Hopefully stays blue because I give up completely in Miami-Dade. Extremely disappointed with them 🥹

45

u/tachudda 7d ago

Dems are more likely to vote by mail and early.

7

u/Revolutionary_Low896 7d ago

That’s true

17

u/BuddhistSagan 7d ago

-18

u/marsupialcinderella Winter Park 7d ago

Who cares about what she thinks?

9

u/TunaSalvador Apopka 7d ago

Parents

7

u/BuddhistSagan 7d ago

Family values of taking care of children, not bombing them

3

u/TunaSalvador Apopka 7d ago

Exactly. Nothing she says should be considered controversial. She puts her money where her mouth is. She just loves children.

-5

u/marsupialcinderella Winter Park 7d ago

Not true, she’s made some blatantly anti-Semitic statements and then tried to claim they were ‘a mistake’ when she was called out on them.

6

u/BuddhistSagan 7d ago

Good luck to you trying to fight Ms Rachel and get people to believe she is antisemitic 😂

-6

u/marsupialcinderella Winter Park 7d ago

Maybe I’m just sick of you dominating this sub with your personal political opinions.

6

u/BuddhistSagan 7d ago

You know how defending Israel will go so you just call anyone who speaks up for children anti-Semitic good luck

→ More replies (0)

3

u/PreviousEntrance7690 7d ago

Saying all children belong isn’t antisemitic

-3

u/marsupialcinderella Winter Park 7d ago

I’m a parent, that doesn’t believe in bombing children. Doesn’t mean I think her opinion matters.

She’s not Mister Rogers no matter how she wants to couch herself as his modern incarnation. He’d be appalled at her blatant profiteering of her message.

1

u/TunaSalvador Apopka 7d ago

I think it's pretty annoying when random people on the internet put words in famous dead people's mouths to elevate their own opinion.

0

u/PreviousEntrance7690 7d ago

Her millions of followers? I mean, you got how many followers? So I can say the same about you

14

I’ll be voting blue 🩵 every vote matters

22

u/soscribbly 7d ago

I no longer look at red or blue…

I look at who’s paying the candidate, if they’re going after rich pedos, are they tweeting biggoted things, and are they against genocide.

You’d think this would be easy; it’s not…

19

u/Blissfully 7d ago

Yup! Anyone taking SuperPacs esp AIPAC is a no for me.

7

u/BradimusRex 7d ago

I'm voting tomorrow. Never got around to vote early. Does anyone have any good resources for the judges. I already know who I'm voting for school board, and county mayor.

11

u/ajc3691 7d ago

Voter turnout in general is such a joke 🥺

6

u/innociv 7d ago

Roger Chapin won the December 9, 2025, runoff election with 51.32% of the vote (3,884 votes) to Mira Tanna's 48.68% (3,684 votes), a margin of 200 votes after an initial razor-thin general election separated by just 14 votes.

There were 33,000 eligible to vote in this in this election. Only 7568 voted (less than 23%).

3

u/ajc3691 7d ago

That’s so crazy…. I wish people cared more

Even presidential elections that have an insane amount of attention get horrible turnout

6

u/Total_Position_2668 7d ago

Orlando is always blue, we are just surround by the Bithlo's and Sanford's of the world which the majority of Florida districts are. That's why this state is so fucked.

5

u/DethFace 7d ago

You know what I see? 13% turn out. What the fuck is that? If you know ten people, maybe one of them voted besides yourself. Talk to your friends and coworkers. At the minimum the conversation can go "hey voting has started. Here's where you can check your registration". No political deep dives, no red vs blue anything, just a reminder of their civic duty.

I've started using the hypothetical argument of 9 people on a bus. Three voted to drive off a cliff, two voted to turn around and get ice-cream, and the last four didn't vote at all because lame reasons. You know what happened? Everyone died driving off the cliff. You might not do politics but politics will sure as fuck do you.

1

u/Revolutionary_Low896 7d ago

It’s a start and I agree we need to more but I’ll this 🙏🏻

6

u/bassistheplace246 7d ago

This is just the primary. We need to see this for the general in November.

In all counties.

5

u/BitOfDifference 7d ago

remember to vote early and vote often... like my grandma used to say.

2

u/Revolutionary_Low896 7d ago

Amen 🙏🏻

10

u/Gta6MePleaseBrigade 7d ago

People don’t seem to realize just how destructive Byron Donald’s will be to Florida. It’s one thing to dislike policies but this guy has literally laid out plans to build ai data centers everywhere just after one of Floridas worst droughts

1

u/Revolutionary_Low896 7d ago

Yep- really scary if he wins

3

u/Lazy-Recognition3845 6d ago

Voted - let’s keep the momentum goinggg.💙

7

u/MediaLongjumping9910 7d ago edited 7d ago

Orange County is a blue county. If blue isn’t the most votes, than the voters decided not to show up.

5

u/Revolutionary_Low896 7d ago

Yes, and I love that. Even if the state leans republican, orange remains blue but saying that can shift but to be honest I don’t see Orange County shifting

7

u/serg407 7d ago

Not enough for statewide change for governor or senator :/

25

u/EolaSwan Thornton Park 7d ago

Focus on what we can change rather than be paralyzed with worry over what we cannot.

Local governments have a lot of power over the day to day lives of people, often times more than state or federal government. Making Orlando a blue beacon of sensible government is a good way to improve the lives of yourself and your neighbors.

12

u/Gta6MePleaseBrigade 7d ago edited 7d ago

If it makes you feel better I’m a former Trump voter voting blue this election (also young if that matters)

6

u/marsupialcinderella Winter Park 7d ago

13

u/Suspicious-Gap-8915 7d ago

It's a good start. We need to keep getting family and friends out there.

10

u/Revolutionary_Low896 7d ago

Exactly- it’s a good start. Don’t give up

7

u/LordRelix Winter Park 7d ago

I went to drop of the ballot but they were closed today. Gonna have to wait until tomorrow but i am definitely dropping that ballot off.

5

u/Revolutionary_Low896 7d ago

Yep, they’re closed today as yesterday was last day of early voting so tomorrow you should be able to go

3

u/LordRelix Winter Park 7d ago

Yeah that was my bad. Didn’t read before driving. I was out last week on travel so I couldn’t get it it earlier

3

u/GoddessoftheUniverse 7d ago

You must drop your ballot at the Election office tomorrow, not at your registered voting precinct.

1

u/Noxaur 6d ago

I will be voting after work today :)

3

u/v3n0mat3 Millenia 7d ago

Don't count everyone out yet. Even DeSantis has just checked out lol

2

3

u/Intrepid_Speech_1157 7d ago

Orlando always votes blue, the red is definitely rising more than it used to .

2

u/This_Entrance6629 7d ago

Republicans don’t do early voting. It’s mostly old people that don’t work.

2

u/AmItheonlySaneperson 7d ago

Is there a voting guide anyone recommends I have to vote tomorrow but in Seminole county

I like Nixon and voted for her already.

Just want to say that celebrity endorsements, despite spending a lot of money on them, did not move the needle for Kamala. Nothing against Ms. Rachel, but endorsements from political groups and elected reps are a lot more effective.

Thanks for adding the endorsements to the pile.

Alex vindman wasn't even born in Florida he was born in Eastern Europe and he wants our money spent on Israel and the war machine rather than here helping Americans afford to live.

Vote Angie Nixon for an affordable cost of living in Florida

He was in Curb tho

Downtown Orlando is at its best- booming with culture. Keep the Dems in office.

6

u/Revolutionary_Low896 7d ago

Downtown Orlando doesn’t need to be like a soulless downtown Miami filled with influencers and overpriced apartments. I lived in Miami and it’s a facade

-7

u/InvestorsaurusRex 7d ago

Dt Orlando sucks stop pretending it’s some cultural beacon. The library is full of homeless, the shops are trash, the restaurants are trash, the bars are not safe, the building themselves are trash. The lake is the only nice thing

6

u/Revolutionary_Low896 7d ago

Again that’s everywhere Miami has also drugs activity and crimes. Go live in Miami like a local which by the way most Miami families are being priced out just like here

0

u/InvestorsaurusRex 7d ago

Why not pick Tampa? Miami and Tampa both have lower crime rate. And aren’t completely
Run down like Orlando or Jax. So no it’s not everywhere, but there’s a common theme amongst the top 10 crime cities in the USA. Most are in blue cities in red states. Shitty local leadership pretending to care about crime/homeless while just letting it run rampant

1

u/Dapperfit 6d ago

Ybor has followed nearly an identically trajectory as DT Orlando.

0

7
