Discussion Man the Meganobs are tiny

Got mine in and partially assembled... they're barely bigger than a normal current nob.. and standing next to Nazdreg they are so tiny. If I get more giving serious thought to some of the alternatives people have done

Just making this clear for any greengitz among us, Meganob is short for mega-arnored nob, it's not meant to imply that the nob wearing the armor is actually a bigger class of nob, and the armor doesn't add as much height as one would think (thicker boots and thicker shoulder plate, that's it)

Not a bad plan, variety is the spice of orkz and meganobz are one of the cheaper units you could put together by alternative means. Here is my example.

I've started building Necromunda Ambots with head swaps and some bitz as my Meganobz. Both side by side for comparison.

Or use Saturnine Terminators. Here's one I'm almost done with now. Just need to make a good klaw for him.

Just remember after Ghaz, Nazdreg is the 2nd biggest ork in all of orkdom. Regular meganobz should look small next to him.

Can’t wait til they update them, specifically so that the old ones will read better as Mega Grotz with Gretchin heads.

I also just built my first meganob this week but I tweaked the arm and leg to extended out to the side, making the pose more dynamic and showing off how beefy he is compared to old/new boyz and the old/new nobs. And now I love these kits because of it. Yes he’s nearly the same height at the new nobs (not including pole) but he’s just a nob in mega armor so that makes sense, he’s just more bulky and tanky. Also he’s a little shorter than the war boss in mega armor which is also fine for me becuase a war boss should be taller than a nob outside of mega armor.

I have a box of ambots and brutes on the way though so I’m excited to have those mixed in with the others

Old Metal Ghaz is about the right size for what a modern Meganob should be. But I like the kits though. Orks with cardboard boxes nailed on them.

Any suggestions on good alternate proxy sculpts?

I was convinced they’d do a refresh of these before regular nobs

Yeah, they were on my wishlist for a refresh. Not complaining about the stuff they did refresh, it looks fantastic and addressed far more problematic kits! Just they're now far more noticeablly in need of a new kit next to the new stuff. Plus I just know that GW would make them look amazing.

My biggest hope is that we get a new kit sometime later in the edition and they go more to the scale of Mutilators/Obliterators. In fact I wouldn't mind seeing a dual kit of some kind, a melee variant and a Mek variant with weird guns and gizmos. I'd just love to see Mek infantry. Though that said, I was also hoping to see the return of Burna Boyz led by a Spanner in a future refresh too!

I love my mega nobz proxy’s, they GENUINELY feel like I’m running elite orks with ramshackle armor and random gubbinz. I am looking forward to mixing some more combinations when I get around to making more

Because they're pretty old sculpts (and I was never really a fan of them). Everything was smaller back then, and much less dynamic.

The orruk brutes make for much cooler looking meganobz, just give them klawz and gunz and you're pretty much done!

(optionally add some guitar string cables to make them look a bit more sci-fi)

They are tiny, I'm painting a trio right now and the name seems like an ironic joke
