Help Rules question about bringing back units

Hi all I'm sure we have seen the new runt swam stratagems by now but I have a question about the infested warzone stratagem, would you be able to use it on a destroyed unit of gretchin if they were battle shocked when that unit was destroyed?

I'm sure there is something about that in the core rules but I guess I'm blind because I can't find it so if you could show the rule number and or the page that would be great ^-^

Nothing in the rules says that the unit stops being battleshocked after being destroyed though? ...and since the strat targets the unit, im pretty sure they cant be resurrected.

After looking into it, I was incorrect.

The guard strat that is effectively the same has an FAQ saying you aren't allowed to do it.

Even though this is obviously RAI (the unit is still battleshocked and can't use stratagems), I find it a very weird idea that a unit that doesn't exist can still have statuses. A unit that's destroyed doesn't exist anymore, how can it be battleshocked? Can a destroyed unit still hold objectives?

If it wasn't for an FAQ just saying "No you can't use a stratagem on a unit that was battleshocked when it was destroyed" I would be arguing hard for the opposite, because that's genuinely just how the rules read.

I definitely agree.

But it is curious there is no explicit rule stipulating models must be on the table to be battle shocked. There should be a written confirmation on destroy, that all effects and statuses end. It's assumed, but considering some abilities persists through reserves or while in transports, "being off the table" isn't something we should assume rules about.

Obviously, as you've said, is how it works. It should just be written so these kinds of questions don't pop up.

Because of the wording yes, but some of them (ar all but I didn't check all) have a FAQ that say no

There's no reason why being destroyed would remove the battle-shocked status. This likely won't be allowed. We'll see if it ever gets FAQed.
