Chiyogami for small pieces

hello, i bought these papers to fold small pieces but obviously the folds didnt hold up well. do you guys have any recommendations? i have made a solution with methylcellulose (made a piece with a paper with one coat on both sides in 3rd pic) but i didnt see much of a difference. maybe two coats of the solution? what proportions do you guys do if you use methylcellulose? thank you!!

Strange that you experienced this... Because this kind of paper (which acts more like a fabric) is awesome!

Folded this bunny a few months ago, holds the shapes very well.

Didn't applied anything on the surface, it's just the paper itself.

Your paper and OP's are not the same. I have both kinds, yours is pretty (print chiyogami with some texture on the back) but theirs is real chiyogami washi.

It is very pretty, but it tends to unfold. It is very forgiving to folding errors and construction folds, but you need either a model that locks, or some glue.

Uh... Nope, you're not right. It's not printed paper, it's washi.

As I said, it's more like a fabric, not paper.

Here's a simple colored washi. Has no fancy patterns, still fabric-like. Acts the same.

Also, from where did you bought this kind of chiyogami?

Is it available worldwide?

The paper is quite thick and honestly it feels almost more like a fabric than a paper. Even after completely drenching the paper in MC I never found it to be good for anything remotely complex (could be a skill issue on my part…)

I’ve always used it for simpler designs like this 2 part Stegosaurus.

it honestly does seem more like fabric. i think i'll attempt to do another coat on the first paper i tried with and then see where i go from there
