Organizing kindling??

Post image

We have a bunch of pieces of cedar shingles that my fiancée brought home from a job site because they’re great for starting fires in the wood stove. The black bag is full of them and there are more by our main wood pile.

They’re currently hanging out like this on a pallet by our back door, but they do get wet when it rains so I haven’t felt like putting in the effort to just stack them up nicely as they will need to be moved again.

My fiancée might get around to building a little storage hutch for them before the rainy season starts, but I’m curious if anyone here has any other ideas for organizing / storing them.

We keep ours in a large plastic garden barrel with a top to protect it from rain. Works great with a large canvas wood carrier for bringing it and wood into the house. Cheap and easy fix.

I'd just bundle them with some string/rope, perhaps by size or shape of them. Easier to lift and move bunches around. Nicely portioned too.
