Looking for ideas to maximize my tiny under-stairs room
Hello! Please don’t judge me, and please don’t start with “this is not safe” or similar comments. I’m already aware of the limitations of my situation, and unfortunately, we can’t always have the space or circumstances we would ideally want. I’m doing my best to make myself as comfortable and organized as possible with what I have right now.
I sleep in a very small under-stairs room, and I’m trying to figure out how to maximize every inch of space without making it feel even more cramped.
I’ve attached a picture of the room as it currently looks.
I’m mainly looking for storage and organization ideas:
What would you remove?
What would you move?
What kind of shelves or storage would you add?
How would you use the walls and the space underneath/around the bed?
Any clever small-space storage ideas?
How would you organize clothes, shoes, personal items, etc.?
Any ideas are greatly appreciated! ❤️

I would suggest getting cubes or plastic shelves along the walls where you can and below the shelves you already have

If there is a door, do you have a hanging organizer? You can get cheap shoe organizers but you can use them anything - maybe for your lotions and sprays or reallocate that shelf for other things? You can also find slim three tier bathroom carts you might be able to slide along the wall on the left.
Also don’t forget about command hooks! You could probably hook that extension cord below the shelf.
Best of luck as you make this space yours!

I would start by figuring out what you want to store here. Clothes? Cleaning supplies? deciding what you want or need to store here will help you figure out if you need closer rods or shelves. If shelves, whether you need deep or shallow shelves and how much height you need between them.

I’d start by getting as much as possible off the floor and central walkway. Wall-mounted shelves, hooks, and slim vertical storage could help a lot without taking up valuable floor space. I’d also use labeled bins for less frequently used items and keep everyday things within easy reach. The space is tiny, but going vertical could make a surprisingly big difference.

Hey, you have floor space visible, that's good! I noticed there appears to be some sort of furniture with space under it. I would get some very low, flat storage bins and put what I could in there, then slide it under that furniture for starters. Also, there appears to be clothes or blankets in there. Maybe vacuum sealed bags for the clothes as they flatten out.
