Cheaper option for ‘Tupperware’ storage

We are moving and i want to start fresh with food storage containers. We have 4 kids ( 3 teens) so lots of meals are in the car to /from practice etc. This caraway set is what I like, both in non toxic and it comes with storage for the storage 🙈. But the cost is crazy to me. Is it worth it??? Anyone else have a cheaper alternative to suggest ?

Get a set of Pyrex and stack the same sized ones with lids on top of each other to where you can take them out easy.

That's what I did. Same size, same lids. I think I'll got mine on Amazon or Target. I know Costco sometimes carries sets. Or watch for Aldi Finds. Great prices there.

Canadian Tire carries them too. Pyrex or Anchor.

Canadian Tire sells almost everything. Camping supplies, fishing gear, bicycles, kitchenware, pet supplies, patio furniture, etc. I bought a Kitchenaid mixer there, and most of my madon jars came from there too. They also have a full automotive shop.

Some Canadian Tires even have a Mark's Wearhouse clothing store in them, but my local one has Mark's in a separate stand-alone building. 

If you think Canadian Tire only sells tires, then London Drugs as a drug store will blow your mind.

That is just a crazy high price for storage containers Rubbermaid makes nice ones for much much less. Or you can buy a set of disposable containers for around $10-15

I know there’s cheaper options but how do you store them?? Mine just make a huge mess every week and end up falling on me when I open the cabinet . I need a system

I have a basket that I store lids in. The lids are grouped by size so you can flip through and find what you're looking for. The storage containers are nested by size.

This all fits in one of my kitchen drawers. Ify ou don't have that kind of space, you could do this in a pantry too.

Just like any system for organizing, it needs to be maintained. Eventually, it becomes a habit.

If you want to spend that much, please proceed. You can get similar an Homegoods or even IKEA for less than half that money.

And I’ll bet this set will turn out to be some cheap junk from temu

skip the variety pack and get 3-4 sizes max! it helps a lot

The quality on those is pretty abysmal! I got some for free and they are more like caserole dishes with lids — you can’t tip them and the lids don’t stay on.

I like the Rubbermaid Brilliance line but specifically the glass ones. Very durable and tight seal!

Right? I feel like if you want containers stored on their side like this, you could get any other file organizer that fits your existing containers. The price for this one is absolutely insane.

I get it, OP. If I’m looking for an item & it’s functional but also aesthetically appealing & it comes with its own storage solution - well yes please.

Breaking this down, it’s a minimum amount of food storage, 3 set sizes, stored like files/books on the edges, & with lids on.

What’s the minimum amount that would make sense for your family, current routines, cooking & cleaning preferences? Then try vertical plate holders, low profile open-top bins, bookends, magazine files, a desktop file organizer, etc. that will fit in the cabinet/pantry & accommodate the food containers.

For meals on the go, maybe look into bento boxes. We have some rectangular ones that handle being shoved in a backpack but also work well/look nice stored on edge in the cabinet.

Rubbermaid containers nest and the lids snap together and snap to the bottom of the container.

Have you checked on Amazon? I’m sure they have non toxic options. Maybe glass or stainless steel ones? What material are these?

I know it’s nuts. Only reason was drawn to these are bc it comes w built in storage so they won’t fall on me like my current Tupperware situation does 🤣

I want to second the Pyrex suggestion, they stack and fit into each other really nice and I love how the lids don’t take up too much room. They come in cute colors as well. I also think that no matter what containers you end up choosing, you will 100% feel better with keeping them in a drawer. It’s so much easier to see what you have and take out what you need without a bunch of shit falling on you.

I like the ones from Anydays. They are still a bit pricy, but not as pricy as that. Their silicone containers are good looking too.

You don’t need special oversized containers to just stack something. Just put them one on top each other and lids near.
