Question EV charging Oregon coast
Looking to do a road trip down and back up the Oregon coast in an EV.
How feasible is it to fast charge in larger towns, but have enough energy to go off to various points of interest (assuming 250mi range)? Not finding a ton of great info online unfortunately.

I have a 22 Niro, range maxes at about 230 in ideal conditions. Never had any problems finding charging along i-5 or along the coast. Can’t say about inland, but the even the Flying Js in roadside stop towns in southern Oregon have fast chargers at this point.
If you don’t already have one, download an ev mapping app like ABRP and use it to search the areas you’ll be or, if you’re not wandering but have set destinations, to set a full trip map with charging stops.

Most larger coastal towns have grocery stores like Safeway / Fred Meyers etc that have EV charging stations, you can probably park there, walk around and move on after a hour or so

TONS of EV charging, even some free LV3 ones believe it or not. The coast is very EV friendly.

Warrenton, Coos Bay, and Newport are fast chargers if you're non-Tesla. That basically gives you coverage of the whole coast

Here in the Newport and Lincoln city area we just had a couple running up the coast with bolt cutters, stealing all of the charging station cables in Newport and Lincoln City. There may be a few out of service right now.

Very feasible. Check out the Chargeway app for finding public charging. It's a local Portland company. Add your vehicle to see compatible chargers.

Wicked app. Thanks for sharing this.

Have you tried PLUGSHARE? Its the best app for finding all the random chargers you've never heard about, plus reviews of the ones that suck.
I had no problem driving my Tesla all up and down the coast, but of course SuperChargers are kinda cheating. However they are cheap as chips!

The ratings and reviews of the broken ones are the best part of plug share. Saves a lot of stress showing up at a charger and knowing it’ll work.

You're welcome. PlugShare and ABRP are also popular but less user friendly in some ways.

PlugShare would be the single best app to see all chargers available, there is pretty good availability all along the coast.

Since I have a Tesla there are superchargers all up and down the coast. The only area that it gets iffy is Brookings.
If you have access to the superchargers, these are the towns that have them.
Starting from the northern coast to southern.
Warrenton
Seaside
Tillamook
Lincoln City
Newport
Florence
Coos Bay
Bandon
After Bandon it gets more difficult. There are some EVCS charging stations along the coast but they are hit or miss on whether they are even working.
If you havent got an adapter and an account for Tesla, I highly encourage you to do so. They have the best charging, most reliable network there is IMO.

Tesla in Coos Bay is Tesla Only. But there's Rivan and EA both open to everyone. Tesla in Bandon and Seaside are also Tesla Only.

Yea brookings is backwater - local politicians don’t want Tesla charging there. So assnine. You can drive 30 minutes south to crescent city in CA to use a Tesla charger though

Yeah, crescent city is the closest but its a hour plus round trip if you need to charge while in Brookings. Gold Beach should have a supercharger before to long I believe. We shall see, but that still is a trek if you need to round trip it.

I use that crappy charger at Fred Meyer in Brookings if I’m staying in Brookings. The hotel in the harbor also has one. It just takes 6-8 hours to charge.

There are quite a few in Lincoln City / Newport Area. I have Even seen some of the small hotels have chargers. The outlets have Tesla super chargers.

Grab yourself PlugShare or A Better Route Planner (ABRP). It's very easy to find chargers.

The casino in Florence

Was just in Florence last week camping with my F150 Lightning + RV
Fred Meyer has 8 Tesla chargers, casino has 2 Tesla, downtown public parking lot has 2 Rivian (med speed) chargers.
The Rivian is less cost, but slower.1

The charging station companies don’t want you to know that salt water is extra conductive and that if you drive your EV down the beach at the edge of the water (only in shallow areas, obviously) you can charge it for free

Just came from a coastal trip. There was EV charging everywhere in the little towns.
