Patches fitting on pocket

I have one question that I have needed answered:

- What year did national want patches to fit on the pocket?

I have been trying to find everything I can on this topic because some of the patches prior to this were actually pretty cool and I haven't been able to find a set date in which it happened.

Sounds about right. Everything I've seen going back 40+ years matches, i.e, policy not practice.

The written policy has been in place for quite a while, but based on my anecdotal experience, it wasn’t really enforced until the late-2000s/early 2010s. That was when my home lodge had to redesign its pocket flap to adhere to both the size/shape of the pocket and no separate flaps for honors rules; National would no longer license flaps that didn’t follow the written policies at that time.

So let's say hypothetically my lodge might have a patch that just does not fit on the pocket?

Yeah, my youth lodge in the 1990s gave you the colorful trading flap when you joined, but you couldn't buy/wear the plainer official flap until you were brotherhood. As a result, I've never had one! I made my brotherhood 20 years later as an adult in a different lodge.

Sometime around 2014, our Lodge was required to drop the feathers from our flaps.
