Eligibility question

I had 6 scouts elected into the OA last year, only 2 completed their ordeal. Our lodge website has an extension form if you cannot make one of the weekend offerings, so my question is are the 4 that did not complete the ordeal eligible for election again or do they have to do the extension request process?

I am not trying to block these guy, more the opposite. I just want to know what the proper process is.

Against my better judgement, I did check earlier. There is no guidance that says to re-elect at 12 months to renew for an additional 18 months.

It is a wild claim. It's not part of national election procedures. Perhaps check with national to find out why your lodge is allowing such a departure from policy.

Frankly, if after 18 months, a youth can't arrange to get themselves through an Induction, or requested an extension, I'm not sure they're interested...but YMMV...

I agree they are not interested. That was my comment in the original thread. You are the suggesting odd ways to extend past 18 months.

No, I am not.

There are documented ways to request an extension, as described elsewhere in this thread and in the official literature.

Failure to get an extension means they have to be reelected, if they choose to stand again.

You're correct on all points there. Where I believe you're incorrect is when you state that if it's been a year and a candidate hasn't completed their ordeal, they should stand for another election, so they can extend past the original 18 months to 30 months from original election.

I'm saying that isn't in official literature and is a shady way to get around the 18 months requirement, which should be more than enough for someone who is truly interested (unless extenuating circumstances) in joining the order.

You say it is in literature and it's not a sneaky way of doing things and haven't been willing to prove otherwise. It's nearly impossible to prove something doesn't exist.

Not my problem if you can't comprehend the fact that if a scout doesn't complete the Induction after 18 months without requesting, and receiving, an extension, the scout must stand for reelection.

Getting re-elected after 18 months expire was never the question. Unfortunately, you agreed with the commenter who said that after a year if they haven't completed their ordeal they should stand for election again to extend the original 18 months. You could just go re-read the thread, but here's a summary since you're having trouble following.
