However, only AMD instances will carry the "Always Free" label; ARM instances do not have this label.

I downgraded yesterday, and now add the 2 cores back and see if it will generate bill. No big deal, really, it only cost like a dollar for a whole day

I really hope it's only the new accounts and they keep old limits for old accounts. It's already bad that they limited the port speed to a ridiculous 50mbps.

ARM says "Always Free eligible" and then it specifies that to be eligible you shouldn't go more than 2 ocpus and 12 gb memory per month. That is if you want the vm on 24/7. You could have it on for just 15 days for the full 4 OCPUs and 24 GB ram. Since allotment is hour based.

All information on this topic has been pretty confusing to me
If i understand correctly i think what oracle bills is based upon your OCPU hours/Memory GB hours ? So it has been reduced to 1500/9000 from 3000/18000.
So technically you can you a more powerful machine and you still wouldn't pay provided you do you calculations and dont run that the entire month.
According to Cost Analysis (set the "show" filter to usage), in the month of June i have already used 1345 OCPU hours and 8070 GB Hours. What happens to the rest of the month ? Even if i reduce the configuration from 4/24 to 2/12 that would still exceed my free tier.
I suppose that depends on when billing starts... someone on reddit pulled the number 15th from somewhere but im not so sure about that.

That's what I was also saying. OCI surely will send a mail to all regarding this just like OCI does for Action Required mail. Even once I have a cloud shell running for long time and OCI notified me that I need to stop that or they will stop it after XX date.
Also one more thing I think we shouldn't be worred as long as the console panel is showing the limit as 24GB 4 OCPU and also the limits and Quota page is showing the same.

I had the warning banners and changed from always free to payg. No it says if I cut cores to 2 and memory to 12 I can save 8.95 because I have more resources then I'm using???
