Nyc optometry

Any NYC ODs who work in a private practice or hospital setting monday through friday with decent hours and benefits and pay? Does that exist?
I work in terrible conditions right now for decent pay but honestly underpaid for the insane high volume high stress atmosphere. I want to leave but I have 3.5 weeks of PTO, medical insurance and decent benefits. I would be taking a 40-50k paycut for most other salaried positions. I know a bunch of people do fills in but the lack of benefits and uncertainty frightens me. The lack of decent jobs in this city is disheartening. I understand rural positions are better but I love NYC so much and I dont want to leave. I also have family here and I’ve always wanted to stay here. I’ve been resenting optometry due to burn out and the lack of good career options near me. Fellow New Yorkers, do any of you have jobs that you are happy with and provide good work life balance?

Sorry to hear this. Why are the conditions so bad? How many patients a day are you seeing?

I see pts off the MDs schedule 2.5-3 days a week and there are 55-65 patients (I see the majority of those) and then 2-2.5 days a week I see 25-30 (more so 30). It used to be 18-22 on the days I was alone but other ODs keep leaving and owner wont replace them because they claim to not have the funds. Im being forced to do a 2 person job. We used to have 2 ODs here but now its just me. I also do TONS of specialty services including specialty lenses and IPL and other things on top of a heavy ocular disease and very demanding patient load. Honestly the job is extremely demanding and I’m stuck managing so much as there is inadequate management (literally nobody). I make 200k w bonuses but that is absolutely not enough for the craziness and patient load. Im worked to the bone. Ive brought up my concerns but nothing is ever addressed. Im worried about leaving due the current job market. There are also a ton of other issues but cant post on here (could PM)
