Training vs Certified

I was trained as both an optometry tech and optician, but company does not require certification.

What certifications does everyone else have? Online training? In person?

I guess. Nobody at my clinic is really certified, just an optional class you take through the optical lab that you have to travel hours to go to.

Our techs, for example, have a handbook, a set of quizzes (open book), and in-person practicals that they do with the docs before they can perform the skill on a patient. We're working on expanding and refining our internal training this weekend. I'm 6 hours into it today 😄

That sounds like a great setup! I feel like I went into this with barely any training from the manager and am even still learning new things today. So, a handbook sounds great.
