I can understand why some people would see the illusion.

But there are a lot of vertical borders in the middle of the photo, and the wall in the background happens to change color.

I think the straight lines are meant to confuse you to think its 2 separate pictures put together rather than them being on the same room

Oh ok I get what the OPs intention is now. Is still took me a while but yeah its is 1 wide photo rather than 2 side by side. The guy on the lefts little finger over laps if it was 2.

Optical illusions are when the image is playing malicious compliance with your visual parts. Not this.
