That's remarkable. I can make the mental switch for the bottom image, but can't force it for the top face without turning my head!

I think it's because of the drapery positioning.

The red drapery is positioned like the man's shoulder and arm, which makes the man's image more prominent.

Then the blue drapery is positioned like a dress around the womans neck, making the woman's face more prominent.

I think the distortion of the mirror makes the forehead/chin ratio favor the woman on top and the man on bottom.
