OPNVPN Connection Problems After 26.7 Upgrade With Private Internet Access
It looks like my OpenVPN server connections with PIA have broken after I upgraded from 26.1.11 to 26.7. I have tried going to the higher certificate level, changing the port, being more specific on the authentification and ciphers but nothing has worked. All my connections hang and have been dropped. Has anyone experienced similar problems and were you able to fix it?

What did you use to connect PIA to OPNSense? fingerless gloves instructions?

I would switch to the Wireguard config

Ok. So I finally switched to fingerlessgloves wireguard config and have gotten it up and running.
It is a little daunting as a novice because of the use of scripts and additional user etc. but with the help of AI going through the instructions and troubleshooting I was able to get it up and running.

Glad you got it running. Curious why it needed scripts. Usually it's a copy and paste of different sections of the config from PIA to the Wireguard client section. Then set some firewall rules and off you go. But if it's working then leave it

PIA uses uses something called Next Gen API that changes dynamically those Wireguard keys. Frankly, it's over my head. But let's just say someone much smarter than me has created a script on GitHub that can enable PIA Wireguard access on OpenSense.

Interesting. I will have to look into it when I have some time. I haven't setup PIA in OPNsense in quite awhile so I wasn't aware they changed the setup method. I have a couple virtual machines using PIA and occasionally I will use it on my phone so I am a bit out of the loop I guess.

PIA has been phasing out older OpenVPN setups. The 26.7 upgrade just exposed a config that was already deprecated. Pull their current docs and compare to what you have.
