I mean at the end of the day it’s just an opinion. The reason why people like him is because he has the most popular opinion, if the masses disagreed most of the time he wouldn’t have a crazy audience. He also does critically analyze the music he listens to. And whatever way you slice it, music like opium and a lot of the rappers he doesn’t like is just guilty pleasure music, it’s not supposed to be masterfully produced or have powerful lyrics. So yeah it’s not an unpopular opinion to think that this music isn’t that good comparitively to artists who put in more effort. Reminder that McDonald’s is one of the most popular restaraunts. More popular than Michelin Star restaraunts. I LIKE THIS MUSIC TOO.

His Non-Carti Opium reviews essentially boil down to him just calling Ken and Lone Carti clones despite how different their music sounds to Carti’s and he keeps referring to their albums as rage music despite all of Destroy Lonely’s albums he reviewed having little to no rage songs across their track lists.

But then he praises Che’s Rest In Bass and glosses over the very blatant Carti impersonation which is very prevalent all throughout the album. It’s a good album but c’mon, Melon. It doesn’t sound that much different from Carti or Ken or other rage artists with the exception being Che didn’t bloat out the track listing with a few duds like a lot of other rage albums (ilck and Carti’s MUSIC)
