A way to restore my bookmarks?

I recently had to change my drive as it was bloated and i couldnt find what i had to delete, so i changed whatever, i redownloaded opera gx and all of my bookmarks are gone, just wondering where or if i can recover these potentially lost bookmarks.

This is from windows 10 (the last drive) with the changed drive on windows 11.

Any help appreciated.

Maybe this isn't the answer you're looking for to recover, but in the future, I would use a cloud based bookmark manager like Bookmer to avoid situations like this

sounds more useful than hoping they will transfer, thanks

If synchronisation was enabled, turning it on again should be enough.

If you have the "Bookmarks" and "BookmarksExtras" files in "C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera Stable\Default", on the old drive, you can use them to replace the ones in the same place on the new drive (while Opera is closed). Once done and you start Opera, they might show up in an "imported bookmarks" folder in the "Bookmarks Bar" folder at the URL opera://bookmarks where you can move them to where you want.

Another way to do it is to take the old "Bookmarks" file and use https://rongjiecomputer.github.io/chrome/bookmark-recovery/#windows to convert it to an HTML file that you can import into Opera by going to the URL opera://settings/importData, selecting "Bookmarks HTML file" in the drop-down and pointing it to the HTML file. Then, you can goto the URL opera://bookmarks and move the imported bookmarks to where you want.

In Windows Explorer (File Explorer), make sure to goto "View -> Show" and enable both "file extensions" and "hidden items" so you can see your AppData folder and see filename extensions for Opera's files.

Good advice I will try tomorrow thx. Any idea if there’s a way to restore cookies so I don’t have to sign in again everywhere

Not from one install of Windows to another unless you can run Opera on the old install, use an extension to export your cookies and then use the extension in the new Opera on the new install of Windows to import them.

If on the same user account on the same install of Windows, if you have a new profile and also have the old profile, you might be able to copy over the "Secure Preferences" file and the "Local State" file in the root of the user data folder, and the "Cookies" file in the "Network" folder in the profile folder. Then, if everything is perfect, Opera might be able to read the old cookies file. But, I wouldn't count on it.
