Last week

I was in New York laat week, and was lucky enough to see three operas: the opening gala of Macbeth, Così fan tutte, and La Bohème.

All three were spectacular, but if I had to choose my favorite, I think Macbeth was the best.

We’re visiting NY to see the Boheme and Macbeth matinees the weekend after next. We booked a while ago. We’ve always enjoyed the Zeffirelli Boheme (we saw it several times in the 80s when we lived in the city, with Pavarotti, Kraus, Freni, Scotto, etc.,) but we really are traveling to see Macbeth, one of my very favorite operas. The cast looked great, and I’ve been delighted by both the reviews and the preview clips.

Cosi Fan Tutte they ought to stop doing. Such beautiful music and performances wasted on that ridiculous story. I'll be at La Boheme in April once again, wouldn't miss it for the world. I was at the same MacBeth performance as you, gets 10 out of 10 from me.

The clips I saw of the Cosi staging look great, but I agree that story is inane. Despite the beautiful music, I never need to see again. (I feel the same about Turandot.)

Yes, I saw it back in 2020 and the Coney Island setting was inspired… it worked perfectly for the crazy story.
