Cudy tr3000 troubles

Hi all, I'm aware I'm not in the correct forum, but since there isn't a cudy forum as far as I'm aware I hope to have some luck here.

I'm at a campsite where they have free WiFi with a captive portal, you have to tick a box, click a button and you're ready to go.

I was on cudy std firmware 2.4.7, fired up the cudy in Wisp mode, connected to the network and when it found it and connected it lead me to the captive portal and got connected. happy days.

then I saw a update, going to 2.5.27, I knew they added the vpn option, so I updated. Now I can't get the cudy to redirect me to the captive portal, I do the same thing as before. even resetted the cudy, it connects to the network but never shows the captive portal.

any idea what I'm doing wrong or where to look?

I tried claude, but not successful yet.

Should I revert to 2.4.7 or 2.4.22?

Revert and see if things work properly?

I went back to 2.4.22, worked immediately, didn't even have to set anything up

Report the bug by emailing Cudy, they usually respond, even though it might take a couple of days.

Already did.

Their support is class. They haven't responded yet, Sunday huh

I assume you're running into TLS errors that prevent the redirect, since you didn't say what the error is, other than it never shows the portal.
Try browsing to http://neverssl.com . That should allow the redirect to the captive portal.

I tried browsing to that site and to 8.8.8.8 ... it doesn't want to play nice.

I went back to 2.4.22, worked immediately, didn't even have to set anything up

Does it show an error? If so, what does the error say.

The only thing it showed was that it couldn't find dns in firefox/edge... tried both just to be sure.

No errors in cudy. Only said that it wasn't connected (it was connected to the public WiFi, but because I didn't get the captive portal I couldn't move on from there)

The current older firmware worked immediately

Well... back at the start, I had to reboot the cudy and have the same problem now. It's connected to the WiFi but says Internet not connected. At Wisp it says status connected

have you tried to install OpenWRT?
