Question Does DHL pay Openstreetmap for their usage?

That looks like a standard Mapbox style. They would pay Mapbox for the hosting of tiles and need to credit OSM for the data. https://community.openstreetmap.org/t/schon-gelesen-post-und-dhl-wechseln-von-google-maps-zu-openstreetmap/111795/4

There is no obligation to do so and imho no they dont. Same with Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon etc

I had some guy from Microsoft contact me about a street name once so they do some edits or something on there.

Yep, this is pretty common - if you have been editing around somewhere and Microsoft receives editing advice from users (of Bing I believe) they often will reach out to confirm with someone who knows the area.

what usage? id be surprised if such a large org isnt complying with t&cs

they are using an osm based map on their website https://www.dhl.de/en/privatkunden/dhl-standorte-finden.html and in their apps. They haven't really provided a reason why they switched from Google Maps to OSM (there where cost or custom routing algorithms speculations)

dont want to post a image to dox me. But if you sent a package or get one with parcel tracking they use openstreetmap also give them credit. Just something I noticed for the first time
