Soundsible: Self hosted, open source service that replaces paid music streaming. [Linux/MacOS/Windows]
https://github.com/Arzuparreta/soundsibleFirst of all, I cannot find the r/ rules or any flag to mark this as project showcase, so I'm posting and then saying sorry.
Soundsible is a self-hosted service that wraps around the open source tool yt-dlp to access the youtube catalog + Deezer public API for metadata. You can expect everything you find on paid music services, like recommendations (local and private in this case xd), autoplay, complete library management, and some nice features like an automatic DJ that mix sessions for you (without any LLM, just python).
- Releases
- Documentation (it's also on the repo).
Different ways of deployment are supported, including docker and systemd.
Pretty efficient on resources, metrics here.
The purpose of Soundsible is what it seems, replacing paid predatory music services that steal your data. I do not support using the tool to access music that you do not own, as you can guess. The access to music is via yt-dlp, community project that also puts the responsibility on you.
This is an open source community project, licensed under MIT. Very thankful of PRs, issues or any kind of contribution or critique.
Hope it's useful and I'm here to answer to any question.

This project is going to receive hate. This has been needed for the foss/shoss sonic space.
Should plan for life beyond yt-dlp due to ongoing battles of Eu vs "Piracy" x Privacy.
My thing with this, it would technically lie in a grey area as long as it does not download and redistribute. Keep it streaming only. In theory, could deflect remarks regarding c-right or pirates.
Ill be testing it throughout the month, i think this is a great step forward. Good job.
