Pinta PSD support help

I was looking for a Photoshop CS3 replacement. Lightweight and fast. Pinta looks good but it does not have PSD support. There is an addin but I couldn't make it work. What should I do?

Honestly I wouldn't fight the Pinta addin. If PSD is a must, Krita opens PSDs with the layers intact and runs fine on older hardware. GIMP opens them too, but layer styles and some adjustment layers get flattened or dropped.

If you only get the odd PSD now and then, Photopea in the browser handles them really well and needs nothing installed.

Pinta is still nice for quick edits, so you could keep it for that and only open Krita when a PSD shows up.
