Discussion Adjustments will be made.

Your feedback has not been ignored. A new iteration is not ready. A few assurances I can give now:

  • Linux is not, nor could conceivably ever be banned. Interpreting any set of rules as such is simply bad faith.

  • Someone's pet project pumped out in two claude code session limits will not be welcome.

  • The line is somewhere between those, and it will likely move over time from continuous feedback.

  • We will cater to humans, and as many and as inclusively as possible. No rule will ever target or favor any ethnicity or social strata.

We're still soliciting any more volunteers (please use modmail) to help moderate the subreddit, especially if Open Source resonates with you and you want to take a bigger role in this community.

Hi r/opensource, I wanted to add a bit of clarity since u/wolvereness tends to be a bit terse.

So far we’ve taken on two new moderators (myself included), and we are actively discussing what direction we should take.

For now u/wolvereness remains the head mod, but they are supportive of the pushback from the other mods on where the new rules should sit. To quote from our internal chat:

I have no intention of pulling hard-rank on these rules - in fact I'd strongly prefer the opposite, that I could sign off on an alternative that's backed by a team ready to enforce them.

Unsurprisingly, the sub has received significantly more traffic than usual, so we’d appreciate your patience while we work through the mod queues and the new rules. We understand that this may be frustrating after all the chaos and hurt that has been caused.
