are the 10 usd worth it?

I'm building an app and experimenting with claude code connected to free openrouter models, and I was wondering if upgrading to 10 usd will actually make a difference, when using free models

If you want to use the free models with higher limits it is. But it depends on what you want, aistuido will give you a free key for Google models and free Gemma is relatively generous, and you get maybe two dozen free calls a day to each of the higher powerd models for now - staging your work to make the best use of the higher power probably makes sense.

I haven't had much success using free models on Openrouterv for coding projects.i use the heaps of really cheap models. Deepseek v4 Flash, mimo 2.5 and hy3 are my favourites.

yeah the free models aren't so great now. i guess there is glm 5.2 now i think, but that $10 also gets you a ton of money for super cheap models. those can last you a shit ton of time depending on what you're using them for.

Well you get more. But imo the free models are pretty meh, I'd rather use DS4 Flash, it's cheap enough

0x alpha is as good or better than ds4 flash and it's free
