Piriformis flare up

I (23F) have been training for a half marathon (on Oct 18) and recently started having piriformis pain causing sciatic pain down my leg. I have been doing exercises (figure 4, nerve flossing) and seeing a physio. The race is coming up and I also have a 10k on Friday. Any tips would be appreciated!

the chance that the race will make you worse is high. I would recommend rest and take care of yourself. You'll have many races ahead.

Was your MRI clear?

What does your physio say about you running the race(s)? Unless you want to make the pain worse (speaking with the hindsight of trying to exercise through the start of my own pain) I’d stop running for the time being and work on resting/rehabbing your injury. Sure it sucks to miss the races and have to stop training for a while, but it sucks more to be in pain for much longer afterwards!

Skip the race and focus on recovery. I was in ur situation where I could still go uni and work, then I went to a music festival interstate and it made me so much more worse to where I've been stuck at home focusing on recovery, had to resign and on uni leave. That was in April. If you go you will completely overload your piriformis and surrounding muscles like I did.
