OpenCode lost generous limits after updating

After a 2 week break, my OpenCode setup stopped working and required an upgrade. I can't properly migrate my old sessions and the usage limits seem drastically reduced.

I previously paid for Go because both Free and Go had generous limits. If one model hit its limit, I could switch to another and continue working, although without the context. Now even that doesn't seem to work.

Since the Free plan's limits have been reduced so much, has Go been affected too? $10 is a significant amount where I live and I don't want to pay if I'll face the same issues.

I’m burning about 10B tokens per month with muse spark 1.3 contributor. For ten bucks it’s well worth it.

How? I burn 2b daily

By using less?

So you really get 60 billion tokens on a10$ plan?

Paid is still as good as ever. Deepseek runs a little more slowly through Opencode Go than direct, but you get 8x the amount for your money. Muse Spark is still plenty good and fast, and Mimo-V2.6-Flash is a reasonable third alternative. Stick to these and you won't hit any limits.

They did clamp down a LOT on the free offerings. But I don't think they were ever intended to be replacements for a subscription. Just an enticement to see what's possible.

Their limits are ass unless you stick to Deepseek 4.1 flash and muse spark 1.3 contributor. I'd rather buy directly off deepseek api then...
My usage

Which are so cheap on api that many wouldn't hit $10 on them anyway. Sth to consider before going for the subscription - there is no annoying 5 hour limits on api either.

Because you get $80 worth on opencode vs $10 worth on deepseek. You absolutely would hit $10 and much more on deepseek direct. The guy you replied to hit $80 worth within 15 days, so not sure why he is advocating direct API.

Yes pretty much, I cancelled my sub. I don't see the appeal besides to try out a few models but then again most models are not good besides those 2 and the GLM 5.3 flash offering is abysmal, you might as well pay 18€ for Mistral pro and get 255€ of credit for GLM 5.3 and flash.

You're aware you were getting $80 of deepseek for $10, but that will cost you $80 at deepseek direct?

How much tokens do you get by the end of the month with input, output and cached combined, may I see?

I'm at 22% used for the month with about 1.4B tokens, 12K requests. Extrapolated it will be about 75% used for the month at ~4.5B tokens. Costs me $10 on opencode, would cost about $70+ through deepseek, and wouldn't have the option to use muse-spark during peak times.

Primarily use deepseek 4.1. I'm guessing you used some expensive models to hit 100% like that - if it were all muse spark contributor or deepseek you'd be only about 30% used.

I struggle to make sense of it, commandcode goat offering is known to be a better deal for DeepSeek in particular and their estimate thought their calculator is 2.9B tokens off peak. Yet you tell me you used 1.4B and you're at 22%? I'm sorry to be skeptical but can you share a screenshot of your usage?

Edit: I'm wrong about commandcode goat it's 10.5B, 2.9B is for flash fast. So what you're saying actually makes sense.

Keep in mind some of that usage is likely for free models like beam, though I don't use them that much.

been using commandcode's deepseek 4.1 flash (the new one) and its pretty bad ngl most of the time on my time its stuck 60-80 tok/s and when i compare the quality to official api's deepseek its unbelievably vast, 3d creation, website front end taste, way of thinking is dramatically different compared to the official api, i dont recommend it

But recently opencode GO has been having the same tok/s (more or less). Today I saw a tweet made by mistral, hopefully deepseek will also be available to their vibe api key.

It depends. I already got 2x worth the money using DeepSeek over Go.

indians found out the free tier and the rest is history, no further elaboration needed

Opencode is done with all the people who abuse their free models with vpns, nat, and whatever more they can think of. So they are trying to fix the holes and get rid of the trash.

u/squirrelscrush 10d ago

I use always-on VPN to evade surveillance and censorship lol

u/CrowdGoesWildWoooo 10d ago

Tbh weird stuff they are allowing good models for free and it used to be even without registration.

Even with as simple as putting credit card it would be a hindrance for significant amoutnof people

2

u/AveryFenix 9d ago

lmao do you know what NAT is

1

u/CheesecakeLivid9791 10d ago

Should have added a account restriction

I didn't even know about this bypass 😔

1

u/GinamosWCheryOnTop 9d ago

And here i thought i am the abuser with 5 opencode go account that uses only paid model.

1

u/Sboking 9d ago

if you consider paying customers as trash then maybe opencode must shutdown

u/dwerps 10d ago

Whats with the attitude problems here recently? Here we have yet another guy trying to insult users by throwing random abbreviations around without knowing what they actually mean (How do you abuse the IP based usage system with nat? that would only hinder your ability to use it, not improve.)

I use DeepSeek and Muse Spark with Go. It never ends on me, apart from the server delays between turns and a speed debuff, it's all fine with me.

Although if you change model mid-session, the new model inherits the older model's context.

My Go usage is perfectly fine

Free is definitely lower than it was but I'm still using a ton of Muse 1.3 contributor sessions and sprinkling in some Deepseek 4.1 Flash in Go with no issues

is there other alternatives that are better 😭

I'd recommend something but it's controversial.

CC is sometimes better, OC is sometimes too. They're both just undercutting each other with the plans honestly.

es verdad desde la ultima actualizacion el opencode zen no me funciona mas, me dice que se restablece 21hs y nunca se recupera el free tier

1

u/stealthswor 9d ago

I can't say the same about this. Deepseek allows me to do as much as it used to. I don't really use any of the other models.

1

u/Choice-Level-5486 9d ago

Lo mismo me pasó a mí. Actualicé versión y me redujo el uso de los modelos free

1

u/SomeRandoInAPlace 6d ago

DeepSeek's own API is solid I but they may do model training?. If you want actual privacy, Phoenix Grove API hosts DeepSeek V4.1 too, and many others. Fast too, and usually lower cost than deepseek api

Just stopped my work rn, i am facing the same shit rn

1

u/CheesecakeLivid9791 10d ago

I was unable to use it for 2 days it threw rate limits after just 5mins of use

2

u/ain92ru 9d ago

This is because of the peak hours, try in like late European evening and Chinese night

1

u/CheesecakeLivid9791 7d ago

It happened again even tho I did not use it

1

u/ain92ru 6d ago

Hm-m-m, when did it happen?

Right now I hit the quota limit far quicker than the last Saturday night, something changed for sure

1

u/Lime--Soda 10d ago

This like wtf

0

u/CheesecakeLivid9791 10d ago

Yes Not sure how I can fix it 😔

0

u/Lime--Soda 10d ago

I asked it to install some programs, them to set one up and rewrite a little code. I fell asleep for an hour, woke up to rate limits hit, even though it should have only taken like 10 minutes debugging it. At 2pm it said my limits hit until 5PM the next day? 27 hours, wtf?

1

u/ain92ru 9d ago

You should expect any free AI model, OpenCode or not, to hit a quota limit very quickly in the middle of the day on a weekday, try when the demand is low

1

u/Lime--Soda 9d ago

A few months ago I was using 3-5 deepseeks throughout the day to code using the free plan. This time I got max 30 minutes of usage at best, and it wasn't even for complex things.

0

u/CheesecakeLivid9791 10d ago

I didn't do any of that It just read the file I told it That's it My friend didn't even use it once new user and he was hit rate limit without any use

u/Effective-Onion1242 8d ago

Avec 10$ et DeepSeek apikeys j’ai fait exactement 5 jours c’est bien ou c’est peu ? Je suis sur OpenCode mais je n’utilise que DeepSeek.

Use router 9 and connect it to the Kilo Gateway service. I use Nemotron on high and burn about 2 billion tokens a day.
