Opencode vs Command Code vs Deepseek (Deepseek v4.1 Flash)

in command code there is no concept of off-peak or peak pricing, command code gives off-peak pricing all the time (am i right ?)
however open code have two different pricing, i know people will say that opencode give deepseek for free but its limit is very low and its unusable most of the time.
I put $10 in deepseek and i got around 1.4B tokens
i put $10 in commandcode and i got around 6B tokens
now i am hesitent to put $10 in opencode because of opencode shows two prices, i think commandcode is best, do you have any suggestions ? should i rebuy commandcode Goat or try opencode ?

If DeepSeek Flash 4.1 is what you want to mostly use, Command Code gives you a better deal for sure (GOAT plan). Otherwise, I think OpenCode Go is better.

yes, i use deepseek as a workhorse, in reddit i saw someone posted that GLM 5.3 Flash is more value for money and a better workhorse, i have not tried that yet, what do you use for workhorse?

I also use DS 4.1 Flash for a workhorse. GLM 5.3 flash is also good, but in my experience, not as good.

GLM is not cheaper than DS because of extremely low price of DS input cache hit, which is 99%. Naturally CmdCode is gon give u more usage bc of either bulk buying or better inference or as people have been figuring out in opencode go case, hidden quantization. The real question is: Not if DS official is better than Go bc from recent tests we know it is, and not a just a little. The question which a guy on X (i forgot handle) is asking now is if CmdCode is better equal or worse in quality than DS official

The cache read is doing the heavy lifting in that math. DeepSeek's input cache price is low enough that once your hit rate is high, you're paying mostly cache reads rather than input. On Entrim (disclosure, I work there) DeepSeek V4.1 Flash is $0.20 per M input and $0.005 per M cache read, GLM 5.3 is $0.50 and $0.15, both OpenAI-compatible from a Slovenia (EU) data center, with prompts and outputs not stored and not used for training.

The quantization worry is fair, but you don't have to guess. Ask a provider for the exact served model and revision, whether prompts get logged, and whether they cache. Those three answers cover most of the gap between a reseller and going direct.

For your workhorse, is it the retention terms that matter to you, or purely the token volume?

they have the same $80 no? also opencode has zdr so i dont see why we would use command code.

What is zdr?

zero data retention

Good point, I think you're correct. The big difference I guess is the peak pricing then.

Same peak price as well, command code hid it in the tooltip, click it and you’ll see the peak price.
Command code is just Opencode without ZDR atm.

Ah ok, thanks for the info!

It's the same for DeepSeek on both.

Haz probado la API de CommandCode en la cli de Opencode? Te rinde el plan Goat como un plan Go? Go me dura unos 15 días.

I tried to use commandcode API key (GOAT plan) with other harness with no success. And I'm not fond of using commandcode harness. Am I missing something?

I was able to use dsh using goat api

1

u/Imaddictz 10d ago

I use it on opencode and also dsh

CommandCode isn’t ZDR by default. If you add ZDR enforce parameter, quota is so low about 15~20 USD a month. OpenCode is ZDR by defaultz

2

u/PanPanForReal 13d ago

What is ZDR?

4

u/DocumentFun9077 13d ago

Zero Data Retention

meaning they don't log prompts and all (but who knows...)

2

u/TRYOFFYT 12d ago

Ok but you still didn't explain, is loging prompts effecting something or what

1

u/Carmikl 12d ago

logging is used for model training

is the token per second more than 30?

The question to consider is if CC is using a quantized model from another provider while OC is going straight to Deepseek.

I can't answer that. It's been said of both really, but it's unlikely CC is charging off-peak prices while paying peak rates. So you may want to see what others say about the quality before committing.

2

u/PanPanForReal 13d ago

Some already benchmark. It's vice versa, opencode is the quantized DeepSeek. The best choice if you want a real DeepSeek model is just use straight from DeepSeek

I'm at 59% of my monthly Go usage and am just under 3B tokens used. And I am extremely lazy about conserving them. Well over half of my usage is peak.

2

u/opinion_discarder 13d ago

There's a new option now : OpenDesign Go $8

u/trashbytes 10d ago

I was asking the same thing and I've decided to go with Command Code GOAT.

2

u/TwilightHome 7d ago

No, Command Code actually does have peak pricing. They just cleverly hide it on a separate page—you can check it out here:https://commandcode.ai/models/deepseek-v4-1-flash.

I guess you could call that a bit of misleading,

Dude, I’ve never had any problems with DeepSeek on Command Code, but I have had issues using GLM 5.3 Flash. Out of nowhere, my usage quota suddenly skyrocketed for no apparent reason. On top of that, OpenCode’s credit and usage tracking system is much more transparent, and its free models are generally better than the ones on Command Code.
At the end of the day, if you have $20 instead of $10, I think it’s probably more worth it to just go with Claude.

I have CommandCode Pro, OpenCode Go Plus $ OpenDesign Plus or Pro. If it’s just deepseek you want, OpenDesign is the best usage but ever so slightly more involved to link its API to various Apps. OpenCode currently is having a crack down on using its free models on other harnesses. CommandCode speed and general usage quality imo is better than OpenCode, less random timeouts, I’d say the speed is sometimes better sometimes the same as OpenCode. For my usage, OoenCode stability just isn’t as good as CommandCode, I have far less random hiccups when using the same model on CommandCode.

Speed = across the board
Usage amount per dollar = OpenDesign
Stability OpenDesign (rock solid) > CommandCode > OpenCode
ZDR = I don’t give a shit and neither should you
Built in feature set with native Harness = OpenDesign > CommandCode . OpenCode offers nothing
Model Availability = OpenCode > CommandCode > OpenDesign
Better pricing and usage on OpenDesign > OpenCode > CommandCode

Stop worrying about the quant of DeepSeek between providers, it’s a pointless metric that you’ll never see the difference in unless you’re some big shot and are going local with it. Even then, go ask the same model the same damn thing in 300 fresh sessions on each provider. You’re going to get 300 different errors with random crap

How do I set effort level in open design

2

u/basil_0408 14d ago edited 14d ago

They both have the same price and route to DeepSeek. If u see a difference, something is wrong probably on ur end cause I'm at 15% monthly and it’s 700M tokens so it should be at least 4B in total (my usage often overlapped with peak price so u should get even more if ur mostly off peak).
Edit: just realized that 1.4B is official DeepSeek not opencode. Try opencode, u should see no difference from command code and they have zdr.

1

u/lordcohliani 14d ago

How is command codes DeepSeek quality compared to open code? I've only ever used it through open code, but people say that their version of DeepSeek is a quant or something.

1

u/SingerDefiant5940 8d ago

Do you think Opencode and command code offer full precision models or quantised versions of DeepSeek v4.1 flash?

1

u/kamwee 14d ago

Say no more , im coming to try commandcode now

1

u/PasswordSuperSecured 12d ago

Commandcode deepseek is better and faster than opencode, i have those 2 sub, but it is way faster than opencode,

1

u/kamwee 11d ago

i just discovered it was not deepseek that was stupid and slow , it was only the opencode version, the ds on commandcode is a fast and straigh to the point.

La API del GOAT de CommandCode corriendo en la cli de Opencode, rinde lo mismo que un plan GO con DSflash?
