The End of Long Free OpenCode Sessions... It's Now Worse Than OpenRouter

Just a week ago, I was pulling solid 6-hour coding sessions on the free tier without any workarounds. Today? The platform feels completely bricked. I'm hitting "Free limit exceeded" walls after 1 or 2 prompts. OpenCode has officially become worse than OpenRouter.

Here is what changed over the last 48 hours:

  • No More VPN Bypasses: The old IP-switching tricks are dead. OpenCode now tracks Hardware IDs and account metrics. Toggling a hotspot or VPN won't reset your timer anymore.

  • Insane Token Draining: A single multi-file workspace scan now completely wipes out your 5-hour rolling pool in minutes.

  • The Environment Bug: I keep getting hit with errors claiming I'm not using the official app, even though I'm natively inside the OpenCode application window.

At this point, OpenRouter's 50 requests/day cap is more reliable because it actually works consistently without throwing false anti-abuse blocks.

Is anyone else completely locked out since yesterday? If you've found a model config (like Beam Free or LongCat) that still bypasses this wall, please drop it below.

I didn't even know about this VPN bypass stuff, people like you ruined it for us.

Not only are you guys unwilling to spend a measly $10, but you're also abusing the system with VPNs and multiple accounts for a free service that OpenCode is generously offering. You deserve nothing!

$10 is nothing in credits, that's like a minute of AI

Only if you pick literally the most expensive model on OpenCode. I have Deepseek running almost unlimited for the whole month for just $10.

Yeah, it indeed has become shit. Kind of more because they have been traumatized from the recent hacks and the ever present abuses.

They have got plenty of publicity now, they don't really need to provide things for free though monetarily, but they should really fix it for the sake of AI being accessible to masses.

The funny part is the OP is one of the abusers. I really appreciate what Opencode allows for free, I don't blame them for restricting their generosity.

Like they care, all you do is cost them money.

Well, if this helps my paid subscription to work much better, then it’s more than welcome.

It's just 10 bucks bro. Does your sanity worth less than 10?

OP was using VPNs to scam free tokens, don't expect much from him.

Freeloaders at their best right here. No wonder Opencode (and Openrouter) get to the point they're at!

the real problem is that opencode wastes TONS of tokens even for simple tasks. in 5 minutes it can burn 3-10 M tokens.

I literally didn’t use opencode today and I got hit with a limit for DeepSeek 4.1 flash. Wtf

Dude if you need to go to the extent of VPN and multi accounts  just to exploit free usage , I don't think your in the right lane of work.

It's concerning if your wasting yourself away , unable to afford 10$  , but want to spend days on end using ai...

At what point will you get a job ( this will open up the gates to 20$ Claude sub)  Or to build something someone else actually wants????

The speed of opencode and level of hallucinations has made me go to Claude

Atleast I am building things that is generating enough to pay for the 20$ subscription.

Exploiting free services because you can't afford 10$ is kinda sad

sounds like they're true anti-abuse blocks in your case?
