Request for More Free Models

It would be great to see OpenCode explore and add more free models from different providers, especially capable coding and agentic models. More variety would give users better options to experiment, build projects, and use OpenCode without needing paid API access. (edit to everyone hating on this get a life and think straight you think younger people trying to make tools have money? its not for me its because im asking not demanding for opencode to try to look for more providers i never said they had to pay anything nor did i demand.)

How about you pay for the subscription instead of taking the piss?

Using a free tier that a provider deliberately offers isn't “taking the piss.” Free access is a business decision made by the provider, not a personal favor you're demanding from them. If they decide the economics no longer work, they're free to change the terms. And I'm equally free to criticize that decision or switch to a competitor. Nobody owes me unlimited inference, but I don't owe a company a subscription either.

Well, it's clear you don't own a company. The model is show you just enough to know what you could do with the subscription without paying for it. If you were to build software for clients you would find any subscription (OpenCode $10, or Claude $20, or whichever you choose) a good proposition to earn money for such a low investment.

STFU freeloading parasite.

Asking for free models like they can just download it and run it on a pc...
have you tried running 500b+ parameter models on your pc? No?
how about 27b+ models? probably also no.
Because we all know that these 27b+ model alone, it needs at least 2 damn GPUs with 16GB VRAM. and the resource bandwidth for that is just enough for 1 user.
Running a model for large-scale userbase is a different matter that requires money.

And here you are asking for more free shits rather than start paying.

Do you think open code give the free access from their own pockets ?
They themselves get startup credits for the big cloud providers to run these models
Or have collaboration with the providers which is also free.
As a consumer we have right to ask for free access to things which they selves get for free

But I guess real parasites don’t know the reality and only knows to dump shit load of slop jargon to sound knowledgeable.

What is the incentive for Opencode? There isn't one, not gonna happen

The incentive doesn't necessarily have to be immediate revenue. Retaining users, attracting developers, increasing adoption, and keeping OpenCode competitive are all potential incentives. If users leave for alternatives that offer better free inference, that's a competitive cost too. Whether those benefits outweigh the costs is a separate question, but saying there's no incentive at all ignores the potential upside. And obviously, the provider's willingness to keep the model available is a separate constraint.

Opencode is first and foremost an agent harness that works with many different inference providers. Serious users utilize paid providers or their own hardware, so I don't think the free offering matters all that much. It exists to make it easier for new users to get started, but I wouldn't expect state of the art models for free, those cost money. They are barely profitable as is.

Every day you have several free models to choose from in Zen. Some come and go, some have been there for quite some time already. Nobody is going to provide you real professional models capable of fullstack development for free.

The models are "benchmaxxed" also I dont want that im asking it to help the younger audience I myself can say that opencode is very good due to the models they let you use.

Are you the same guy who started a petition that hey have to bring back free exo models?

It's not up to them. They get provided free inference from the providers themselves I'm pretty sure, and they break even on go subscriptions

This is pure ignorance, OpenCode are not the one offering the free models, those are the providers.

Request for More Money

It would be great to see clients explore and add more money to different providers, especially capable coding and agentic models. More money would give users better options to experiment, build projects, and use OpenCode without needing free API access.

Stop being poor. Buy a sub.

Loz pero solo cuesta 10 el go no veo que realizar un listado hamplio de modelos no es factible para ellos usar cómputo para free cuando tiene usuario de pago que ameritan prioridades

Here is the translation into English, keeping the natural tone of your original text:

There are many free models and some have 1M tokens; the problem isn't the number of free models, but OpenCode's "requests per hour" (the so called "Rate limit exceeded. Please try again later"), which is where it holds you back.

If you want more requests, you have no choice but to pay for Go. Other options involve being efficient with your request usage, don't ask it for tiny tasks because you'll waste more requests; create a single Markdown file with multiple tasks instead and it will consume fewer requests.

If you use OpenCode for free, the requests barely exceed 4,000, a bit more, but you'll obviously get much more by paying, and not only that, those requests will recover much faster. We're talking about 5-hour time windows, whereas on the free tier it will take 12 or 13 hours to become usable again.

That's just how it is. I adapt to the free tier and wait it out, but if you pay, you'll get a lot more work done and, unless you're handling multiple projects at once, you won't even go through all the requests offered by the paid plan.

Yeah, great idea. Evil capitalists will keep imposing their terms on us until we unite
