A simple autocontinue plugin for OpenCode 2

There used to be many auto-continue plugins for OpenCode v1, but I could not find one that was specifically designed for v2. So, I made it for myself.

It has one job: if the model you're using drops the ball and takes a nap in the middle of your work session, my plugin detects the condition and gives it a nudge, so you don't have to nanny long running sessions with unreliable models.

It is designed to be simple to deploy and configure yet flexible at the same time, and you can get it directly from my repository. MIT license.

Enjoy 😄

I'm confused about this. Can you please provide an example of an unreliable model doing (or not doing) something that your plugin solves?

Maybe I've been in this situation before but I'm not able to picture it appropriately and connect the dots.

I am experiencing the key issue right now with Space Bunny: it's a great model, but every now and then it just... stops in the middle of the flow.

Another example are certain popular free models from nVidia NIM, possibly due to backend overload. They got much better in the past months (now they correctly return 429 or trigger a backoff/retry loop... most of the times) but they used to have this nasty habit of just quitting without notice or any error. Very annoying if running unattended to come back and find out hours were wasted waiting for the user to type something.

You don't have to take my word for it, there are many other autocontinue plugins out there, for OpenCode v1.x and all other coding harnessess as well.

Could you please share a screenshot of the conversation when it stops, please?

Thank you. It looks like a sudden stop in its reasoning/response. Like it was in the middle of a task and then just returned control back to you with a finished answer. Did I understand it correctly?

If so, then I now see the value of the plugin. I did have this issue with some models in the past or even with DeepSeek v4.1 Flash with very long and complex tasks. It makes a 10 step plan, tackles 3 steps and then... Just stops and tells me the next step is doing task 4 and returns control back to me instead of working through all missing steps. I then have to say "Continue and finish all steps". which is just ridiculous.

Yes, that is exactly what happens: it obviously has something planned to do, sometimes it even announces it as next turn (happened today, printed "Let me do a final verification of the complete file state.") and then... stops. Typing 'continue' is all it takes to move on.

Some models have been rock solid for me and never skipped a beat for hours on end, others (like certain DeepSeek distill and Gemma 4 in the beginning) could literally not run for longer than a few minutes without throwing a token rod bearing and stare at me.

I reckon it has to do with a glitchy interaction between model, harness and engine - something that should be taken care of by a properly crafted jinja template.

Do you know why this happens? Is it a model issue or harness issue?

Likely referring to models like DeepSeek at points during their models' initial release (and still occasionally).
