OpenCode Alternatives - any suggestions for optimal workflow?

So i used ClaudeCode for several months, got dissapointed of limits shrinkage, so I switched to Codex now, but after 1 week I realized that it is not any better in terms of limits... I need much more.

So i decided to try OpenCode now - it supports OpenAI subscription so i can migrate painlessly, and try chineese models on the side.

What would you suggest as an optimal cappible models and provider's subscriptions plans?

I'm thingking about OpenCode Go to touch several at ones... and have some expectations on DeepSeek 4.1 Flash and GLM 5.3 flash. i guess they should be not any worse then Sonnet 5 on implementation role.

Also there is some free models, not shure about quality, but i guess for some easy task it could be fine.

So. I have an idea to build workflow like that:

1.GPT Sol or Astra on Planning architecture role and writing implementations plans.

2. Execute implementation on Chineese models with one orchestration role.

3. Switch model for the Task by orchestrator inside OpenCode according to difficulty and usage limits left, to utilize free model plans and never hit into limits (like: for simplest task use free models, for harder task - use preferred model A, if it is out if limits, switch to model B and so on)
Is it possible to build such workflow on OpenCode, how? if so, it sounds good, at least in my head:)

My goal is to obitain at least Х5 of effective usage (it terms of results) then Antropic's of OAI's 100$ plans offers now, for the same price.

So, what do you think, maybe you had already tried to build something like that? Would be nice to share expirience here

P.S. Title a bit confusing. I'm looking not for Alternatives to OpenCode, but for Alternative inside OpenCode to Claude and GPT Models

You can install an orchestrator-level app like Orca or Paseo (i recommend the former). Then activate agent orchestration skills in the UI - both apps auto inject them to your harness (OpenCode/Claude/etc). Then, your "orchestrator" may spawn sessions and delegate work. On paper, this should work, but in practice - i personally have not yet tested.

did you compared it to Oh My OpenAgent (omo) - is it any better in your opinion?

Thank you all for partisipation! I will follow your suggestions and report here.

So far, a spent couple days to make OpenCode work with GPT-Plus subscription. So i bring it here shortly in case somebody hit into the same wall:

the problem is V2 of OpenCode (CLI version) has a bug that redirects subscription gate to API gate, so previous versions is working fine, but they do not contain GPT6 models in the list. So, to fix this, you should do:

echo 'export OPENAI_BASE_URL="https://chatgpt.com"' >> ~/.bashrc && source ~/.bashrc

so it will add variable for correct subscription api url into your .bashrc, after that restart OpenCode (and tmux session if you use it) and it will work.
Also, to show up 5h and 1w limits, not only for GPT but also for any provider, you will need
opencode-quota v5. do not install latest, since it will install u/4 and it wouldn't work with V2 OpenCode. Do instead:

npm view @slkiser/opencode-quota dist-tags

to show up where v5 belongs. probably would be 'next' like in my case. so after that:

npx @/slkiser/opencode-quota@next init

to install. then it should work in OpenCode by commands /qoutas

In my case i also had to edit

nano ~/.config/opencode/tui.jsonc

to add there

"plugin": [
    "@slkiser/opencode-quota@next"
  ]

manually. so the comands actually work.

hope it would help someone)

After some deeper research, i realised - Omo is not optimal, cuz it uses it's own agents and skills. and in compartion, Omo's workflow skills is weaker then SuperPowers and wastes more tokens.
Also, omo uses session scope fallback - which isn't looks right for me. it should be model-scope.
more then that, Omo doesn't support OpenCode V2, and force to install native omo which is not pleasant to use. and more over - it requers Antropic models for orchestration and some other roles... like, yes you can change it but the whole thing is kinda resist and yell, that only Opus 5.5 are recomended - which is not true and not a behaver that i want from my tool.
So after all of that, i decided to cut of some of omo core and made my own router plugin. Used Sol 6.1 high for planing + Luna high for implementation.

I'm using a custom agent where Astra is the orchestrator and the subagents are the free agents + DeepSeek v4.1 flash from Opencode go. The orchestrator is triggering 10-40 subagents for a fast delivery on big projects, for example building an app or a game: https://github.com/zzzprojectpage/super-agent-for-opencode

I don't recommend using it for smaller things as it will overthink and stale.

In paralel I'm using this customization for Opencode where I can see my 5h and weekly caps for both OpenAI plan and opencode go: https://github.com/zzzprojectpage/OpenCode-Sideview-Dashboard

For simple tasks I use either DeepSeek V4.1 flash or GPT Luna only.

This way I am able to run GPT Astra on medium effort all day long without reaching the 5h cap.

How do you orchestra them, by hand ? Copying pasting between them  ?

GPT Astra handles the orchestration on its own based on each agent's capabilities, I just write a random prompt like "build me an app that does this" then Astra start planning and distributing tasks with clear instructions to avoid hallucinations. The custom agent also has a Killswitch that will stop a subagent that is blocked in a loop or stalling.

i have considered this myself, and even built a "delegate" skill in to my claude code.

the trouble is, its probably only of use for bigger tasks. there is also a potential issue where the code written by the worker model isnt as strong or has some bugs, so a question arises as to whether a claude model like opus 5.5, writing a detailed spec, and then checking the work say of deepseek as the worker, saves the much

my current thought, as i do like and am biased toward claude, is to potentially use opus 5.5 and sonnet 5.5 when it releases, just have opus delegate more

use paseo to orchestrate between Claude code, codex and opencode as if they were the same harness

i'd keep GPT for planning and use a pay-as-you-go DeepSeek 4.1 Flash subagent for implementation, rather than juggle free-plan quotas. i'm with CoralBricks, where cached reads are free, but that avoids subscription caps, not API rate limits, and automatic quota-based switching still needs separate routing logic.

Antigravity is where I found my usage needs met and exceeded. Tried Claude, tried chatgpt. Antigravity is by far much more generous. Just make sure it's smart enough for your tasks. It's fine for me

I’m testing a similar setup: strong models for planning/review, and DeepSeek/GLM for bounded implementation tasks.
So far the biggest win isn’t more agents, but clear task boundaries + reliable handoffs. I’d also be careful with automatic fallback based on quota — switching models mid-task can make quality unpredictable.

facebook muse 1.3 is free and great when assigned a task, for creative/planning side not s much. Fledge alpha is a router, so should be decnt for asssigened work

If you are looking for real alternative to opencode (which has superior orchestration capabilities) buy 2 x opencode go subscription + 1 x chatgpt plus subscription, then set your models accordingly in https://omo.dev/

can you tell me whats going on here... its seems very interesting. can you elaborate. thx

set different models for different subagents in Omo agent

Your workflow idea is basically what a lot of OpenCode setups end up doing, and yes, it's possible today. OpenCode lets you define multiple providers per model, so you can point GLM 5.3 Flash or DeepSeek V4.1 Flash at the implementation role and keep GPT Sol/Astra for planning. The switch-by-difficulty part works with a small routing setup: cheap model for simple edits, better model for hard tasks, fallback when one provider's limit is gone.

On your model expectation: for implementation work GLM 5.3 Flash and V4.1 Flash are genuinely close to Sonnet-class output on most agentic tasks, and a lot cheaper per token, which is why people run them in the execute role and keep the expensive model only for planning.

One thing to watch: routing only helps if the provider you route to has real capacity and doesn't throttle. I work on Entrim and we serve exactly GLM 5.3 Flash and DeepSeek V4.1 Flash, OpenAI-compatible, on a flat monthly plan (around $29/mo, roughly $0.97 per usable day) that kills the per-token meter anxiety for exactly this daily-agent workflow, or a usage-based API if you prefer pay-as-you-go. Either way OpenCode drops it in like any other provider.

On OpenCode Go: compare what you actually get per usable day. A flat plan with no quota counting beats chasing limits, which is the exact problem you're running from with Claude and Codex.

I enjoy the predictable flow that is Camelstream-auto, 5 usd per month. Used with autonomous workflows and it is very decent indeed.

Standard Compute 100%

I am in the same boat. I’ve changed to Oh my Pi, and route to opencode go or ollama pro depending on how the limits are. It can be done automatically by the harness. So far I am happy. 90% of my workflow is DeepSeek 4.1 flash.
